HAPPY ANNIV TIBS AND BUGOY
"If I had to associate Lex and Mai’s love story with a novel, it would be Nicholas Sparks’ The Notebook. Other than the fact that theirs started the same way that Noah and Allie’s did (in an amusement park, only it was in a ride called Anchors Away, not in a ferris wheel), their personalities also resemble the famous fictional couple.
Lex was very much like Noah. He might seem presko and all at first; but as you get to know him better, you’ll find out that he’s pretty much the ideal kind of guy. He has a genuine heart and would do anything for the people he loves. For Mai (his own Allie), most especially.
Mai was similar to Allie in some way. They both couldn’t escape one thing: fear. It was the fear of hurting everyone else by choosing the person they love. Mai has this tendency to doubt, and when she does, it would be difficult to change her mind. In the end, however, both Mai and Allie did the best thing there was to do: follow their hearts.
Lex and Mai weren’t the perfect couple. Their personalities clash almost all the time. To be honest, the whole barkada would feel weird if there was a time that these two wouldn’t fight. (Not anymore though, I guess we’ve all matured.) Mai would want this, but Lex would have a different say. Lex would choose this, and Mai would disapprove. And I quote Nicholas Sparks on this, “They didn’t agree on much. In fact, they didn’t agree on anything. They fought all the time and challenged each other every day. But despite their differences, they had one important thing in common. They were crazy about each other.” That was the truth. No matter how often they bickered, at the end of the day, no matter how cheesy this may sound, their love for each other always brought them back together.
It took quite some time for these two to actually realize that they were meant for each other. But after countless fights, broken hearts and buckets of tears, I’m proud to say that the “Tibs” and “Bugoy” I knew have come a long way. This is only the beginning of another great love story, and I’m pretty sure the ending would be the same as Sparks’ novel, only better.
Happy Anniversary to my favorite couple. :) "
