Liam Barrett
Liam Barrett
LIAM BARRETT is a TWENTY-SIX year old POLICE OFFICER with the NEW YORK CITY POLICE DEPARTMENT living in QUEENS.
TIMELINE
TW: Abuse, Neglect, Drug Use
Liam spent his early years abuse, neglected, and shuffled all over New York City by his drug addict parents.
At ten, the drug house he and his parents were in was raided. One of the officers noticed him and shielded him from the ensuing gunfire. His parents were arrested, and Liam was sent to foster care.
By the time his parents parental rights were permanently severed, Liam knew he was too old to be adopted. Luckily, Officer Quinton who had protected him stayed in his life as a mentor as Liam grew up bounced from foster home to foster home.
Liam decided early on that he wanted to be just like Officer Quinton, and that was a goal that he fixated on. He worked hard and managed a full-ride scholarship to college and a degree in criminal justice before heading to the police academy.
With a steady job, good apartment, and his life finally at a stable point Liam is left trying to figure out how to actually live.

I will be taking part in MILIEU III at Little Man Coffee, Cardiff. Great list of Spoken Word readers as usual and I will be exhibiting in the vault downstairs, expect a day-glo fun dungeon.
I was asked to take part in an exhibition at Pick Me Up 2016 with Beach London in aide of The Museum of British Folklore, who are looking for a permanent museum for their collections.
One of my favourite British folk traditions is Punch and Judy. A violent puppet show where the anti-hero Mr Punch defeats all on comers with his trusty slap-stick. Look it up on Youtube.
These are screen printed pin dolls, you can cut them out and assemble them yourself. They are available to buy HERE.
It was great to be part of show with so many excellent artists. Thanks to Beach for asking me.
