naturally, he is a little confused. he tries not to make that too apparent; sitting opposing this… alternate version of himself, hands upon his lap as he finishes listening to the other’s tale and thoughts upon the situation at hand. it is then that loki that stirs from his silence, having studying both the event at hand and of course the teller of such a tale. “ i do not doubt the intention of a much more sinister plan than merely uniting differing ‘ aspects ‘ of ourselves. “ he isn’t quite sure what to name it yet, this whole thing that’s occurring here.
“ and there is no measure of that terribleness just yet, i assume? it seems most if not everyone present in this place knew nothing of this place, prior to arriving here. “ the universe is indeed so awfully vast; an endless ocean of planets, galaxies, realities…possibilities. but he dwindles not upon the chance that perhaps sometime, somewhere, a version of himself walked the path he had not taken. such thoughts would surely drive a man mad, but he merely chose to shift along, returning to the room and the far more pressing matter at hand.
“ then i suppose it’s a matter of investigation. well, and patience. “ hah. as if. he decides not to voice the third option. “ i’m interested to hear what else you’ve learned. unless of course you’re keeping that information guarded. i’ll find it out sooner or later, i’m sure. “
“There’s not much point in playing cloak and dagger with myself, now, is there?”
It was Loki’s roundabout way of saying he had little to hide; least of all from himself. When damn near every last one of them were stripped bare and led down the aisle of beacon-guns and robot women playing horribly tacky Midgard music, subterfuge was nothing more than a pipe dream yet.
“Then again, what I know is from observation and applied deduction. I’m sure you know already how that goes--the somewhat blind leading the blind.” He knitted his hands together. “I suppose I could tell you I’m in a team with Logan--that Logan, yes, the one with the claws--but that’s about as important to the current issue as a footnote on the bottom of the index. There’s a great deal to unpack with this story yet.”
Loki, contrary to expectation, isn’t so much as surprised that an alter of his has popped up let alone bothered. It may bother him as a surface itch, ultimately minuscule in the greater scheme of things. If anything, the fact they were both here forced the realization that this realm wasn’t only a dumping ground for random loss souls of a shared universe: it was pulling from several timelines at once. It... had a way with complicating his current theories.
(Please, gods in the nine, let this alter wash his hair at least once.)
“I’m not entirely sleepless over the situation we’ve been given,” Loki started, now petting a side of his cheeks. “Let it be known it does annoy me to be quite nearly powerless. I despise the feeling of newfound mortality, I assure you.” There’s a flicker in his eye. “But you. You’re much younger than me, aren’t you? What are you, a thousand?”
The ends of his lips curled up. “‘Tis but a babe, then.”
