SO!

after shipping my things to LA, from the UK in March, the company losing it, us having to do their joba and find it, heckle them to deliver it and finish their job i'd paid for, Finally, FINALLY by the end of next week, if all goes to plan, we will recieve our personal items, which includes the tablet i use to do my job.

I will once again be able to crank out art and comic pages as soon as I get it back, and this all goes back to regular broadcast. So sorry for such a slow, boring wait, i've also been fighting Depresso, which has been awful, but is now improving now im back with my emotional support human, we'd been apart for 4 months and it was very bad.

Oh and I got married on 6/9/24, which, ha, 69. Nice. No dresses, no suits, no guests, no stress, just an embarrasing personal confession that I have human emotion (ew), which was....lame. but eh. what you gonna do, gotta keep the partner happy, even if its not my thing, its theirs, they deserve it. No congrats required, I do not value the foundation of wedlock, its just a sheet of paper and changes nothing, just figured its worth mentioning as another reason ive been a bit held up work wise.

Re: Re: Existential Musings; Lucky Us

The universe is truly trying to heal me this week. 

I post a bunch of depressing stuff about having lost my purpose in life, and suddenly I get the urge to reread Lucky Us by geek-fashionista/princesskittty1. In the final chapter, Marinette writes a letter to her past self, 24/25 years old, wondering if her life would ever get better, and she tells herself not to give up because everything will turn out okay.

I needed to see that today. 

When the fic was first completed, the author posted on her tumblr that Lucky Us, and Marinette’s struggle for purpose somewhat mirrored her own life experiences. That at 22 she graduated with a degree she no longer wanted to pursue, that for two years she wasn’t working and was just trying to find herself, but by the time of this story’s completion, she was finishing graduate school in a field she loves. 

I find so much inspiration in that story, because I feel like it reflects what I’m going through, and what some of my closest friends are going through, too. Our society puts so much pressure on us to graduate high school, decide on our field at 18, and be an instant success. But that’s just not how life works. 

I keep reminding myself that it’s ok to be 24 and not know what I’m doing with myself. What am I going to do with the rest of my life? Will I be successful? Will I ever pay off these student loans? Will I ever have my own home and family and a job I love? Will I find my purpose?

Obviously, I don’t have all of the answers. Or, really, any of them right now. But I just have to keep telling myself that it’s ok, that most other people my age are going through the same thing right now. Sure, some of them look like they have things figured out, but I’m sure even many of those people have things in their lives that make them feel lost.

In our mid-twenties, we are all transitioning. We just have to remember that, eventually, we’re going to figure things out. And it’s okay to ask for help along the way.

I was thinking to myself that I’ve never pranked anyone in my life and was feeling pretty good about that until I remembered... I have.

Where I grew up there were a lot of pokeweed plants. They grew all over the fucking place, and the pokeberries themselves were a juicy, highly toxic late summer plaything.

If you’re thinking now that maybe I tricked my parents into thinking I’d eaten some, please sit down. I’m not a MONSTER.

These things were like 90% juice and said juice was a dark DARK red/purple color that almost looked like blood if you squinted in the right light.

(Why is it in a pumpkin? It’s a mystery~)

It was very easy to crush a handful of berries and then go running home, screaming bloody murder and, for about 2 seconds, convince any adult that you had somehow mutilated yourself. Of course, it stopped working if you did it too much. Good news was that you could still have fun smearing that shit ALL OVER your friends’ faces, and watch their parents get pissed because -spoiler alert- this juice is really good at staining everything it comes into contact with.

(Yeah, that’s not coming out for a few days. Sorry, buddy.)

How is your move going ?

It is done, thank god. Was hectic as hell, but I am a visa holder in the US now, and get to be part of the dumpster fire :‘I LA is so expensive, but I’m finding charm to the place, a lot of beautiful old architecture. Do LOVE the heat, so this weather works great for me.

We’re unpacked, settling in, and getting a routine back now. Can’t ask for more at this point.

cat update: she’s always almost getting crushed because she likes crawling beneath blankets to sleep so i lifted mine for her to crawl under when she came to cuddle tonight and she basically immediately passed tf out idk if she will ever move again with how happy she is
