I am reading a book; referred by a guy I was with (love bookworms), The Rhythm of Life: Living Everyday with Passion & Purpose by Matthew Kelly.
Kelly said “Minimalism is one of the greatest character diseases of our time. It is the enemy of excellence and a cancer on society”...
Minimalism aka the short cut. My ex wanted to get rich the short cut way. My colleague works “strategically” by doing it the short cut way. Most guys on Tinder like to get into your pants the shortest cut possible. Some humans think “what is the least that i can do to finish this task?”, “how can I go to Estancia from Roxas City the least travel time possible?”...
I think it’s bull. We are so impatient to get to our destination, so much that we compromise the quality (i.e. of our work), the fun (i.e. of road trip), the excitement (i.e. of getting into his / her pants), etc.
Why can’t we stop for a while, live the moment and do things with passion? If not, then might as well don’t do it all; because if you fail the first time - and God forbid, you get no more second chances - that’s just an opportunity lost. Time wasted.
The project has to rollback. The train will pass. The girl is gone. You’re alone again, thinking of the one who got away. You’ll start all over again. Over and over again, until you find your old self thinking of what could’ve been or would’ve been had you gone full measures.
