My morning routine #LifeOfATwentySomething #HappyMonday #SoAccurate
Of course it's 2 am
Maybe by the time I post this.
Isn't having a crush so exciting and so exhausting and so disturbing at the same time?
There's this guy I really like that I met through my friend that I may or may not be in love with (not the mutual friend). Probably not love but he's amazing. We're friends and we've hung out so much, like 5 days out of 7 in the last 3 weeks. I saw him tonight. And he told me things about our mutual friend that he wouldn't tell her and it made me feel so special.
I feel like I'm in middle school again. It's so dumb but I kind of like it. He makes me feel so giddy. I usually talk without a filter with anyone but with him, I'm so nervous. I clamp up. I haven't feel like this in the longest time and it feel amazing and it also feels like the worst thing ever.
Oh crushes.
10 Tips To Survive The Year After Graduating.
Between binge drinking to get over the immediate depression of growing up, and pretending you're the most responsible human on earth in order to land the job, is YOU. A confused, self-assured, lonely, independent, sad, ecstatic graduate. What now?
1. TAKE A BREATH. Mentally, your brain is dunnzo. Between juggling 234098 friends, homework assignments and and tinder matches in undergrad and 574358 resume submissions, seemingly worse hangovers and depressing "save-the-dates," GIVE YOURSELF A BREAK. Slow down and don't get caught up in the stressfulness of the in-between. You've done enough!
2. DON'T LOSE TOUCH. "You've got a friend in me." Wise words, Toy Story. I've learned to recognize that the most important thing in life is to surround yourself with positive people. If you somehow managed to keep the same friends for over a year, yet alone all 4 years of college, DO NOT become too busy to keep in contact. If you're going to survive this year, at least don't do it alone. My guess is they're feeling the same way you are.
3. ACT LIKE A GRAD, THINK LIKE AN UNDERGRAD. Instead of drinking at a fraternity house or getting caught at your go-to college bar, do something fancier. Still broke? USE GROUPON. My fave way to find new and exciting adventures that allow you to make embarrassing memories, AND save money. This time we're acting smart about money and not breaking into dorm laundry rooms searching for spare change on the floor. I mean, what? No, I never did that.
4. TAKE OUT YOUR FRUSTRATION ON SOMETHING OTHER THAN FOOD. Okay, maybe food sometimes. Let's be real, it's always bo-time. But when you don't want to drown your sorrows in 3000 calories of DP Dough, you should be productive. Find a new hobby, craft, clean your room, plan your whole pinterest wedding. Back away from the fridge, fatty.
5. MEET PEOPLE OUTSIDE OF THE DOWNTOWN SCENE. And no, I don't mean Tinder. If you want to find that special person to fulfill your temporary needs, sure... the Oxford is a good place to start. (can i get an amen, raleigh friends?) HOWEVER, if you're looking for that person to bring home to mom, maybe lay off the tequila and draft specials.
6. DON'T LET YOUR APPEARANCE SLIP. If you're confident in yourself, others will notice. Take time to take care of yourself. Extra cardio, haircut, crunches while crying over the last episode of breaking bad. Do what ya gotta do. Fear the words, "you could try sears."
7. SAY WHAT YOU MEAN, MEAN WHAT YOU SAY. Highschool was filled with saying whatever necessary to please everybody in the race to see who could get the most facebook friends and yearbook signatures. College was filled with passive-aggressive comments trying to keep friends around until you didn't have to run into them on campus anymore. YOU'RE FREE. Say what's on your mind for once and maybe you'll find your true friends that can deal wit yo bad self.
8. REMINISCE EVERY NOW AND AGAIN. New beginnings are great and moving forward is cool, but don't forget where you came from. Hop on facebook and journey through 2011, when the themed parties were endless and making the duck face in 9/10 pictures was a thing. Every moment lived has built the foundation for what you are today; embrace it.
9. THINK POSITIVELY I challenge you to find the good in everyday. Yeah you were 15 min late to work, you forgot your coffee on the counter and your boss yelled at you 4 times. But maybe you caught that hot coworker looking your way, or someone didn't let a door slam in your face. Although small, I promise there is always a positive to every situation.
10. REALIZE EVERYTHING WILL FALL INTO PLACE.
