I feel like the #1 thing I should contribute to the fandom is more backgroundship
Every time I look at the plush of tiny Kaiba with Blue Eyes my brain goes "he asked for no pickles"
that post that's like "I miss y...ugioh" but I legitimately do kind of miss Yugioh
Big Wed is just too spicy for tunglr
I'm always gonna be a KJ enjoyer at heart, but thinking about Kaiba's carefully curated existence and worldviews and broken coping mechanisms being thrown into disorder via an entire host of beautifully varied approaches is why you will see a different Kaiba ship being contemplated here every two weeks, if not every two days
As much as I love writing ships and fluff and consuming said content like a little gay vacuum cleaner, there's something so gratifying about writing confrontations between characters that don't really know each other and don't quite know what to grasp onto when things escalate, particularly when one or both don't know how to handle or express their emotions. It's good in pre-get-together contexts, but also great when it's completely outside of any romantic implications.
See also: two characters that know each other well, but there's some important, fundamental thing about the other that they've completely failed to notice or grasp (or they're so deep in denial this might as well be the case).
happy birthday Bakura I am wishing you a very cream puffs and not being possessed by an evil guy again
