I left Facebook. Now I enjoy life without Facebook. Life without random connections. I don't miss it so far. I know who my friends are. Not many and that's perfectly enough.

“Life After Facebook” Journal
Day 3 without Facebook and I have exactly one feeling: relief.
I am spending all my time, all my time, learning, reading, and thinking. I don’t waste time like before. I have time for homework. My anxiety levels are lower than before. I find myself having moments of deep concentration. It’s a bit of a gateway drug, as it were: having left Facebook, I have been able to get away from my phone, too. Typically right next to me as I work daily, checked every few minutes or even—*GASP*—every minute, these days I keep it in my purse in the backroom and check it every hour or so to see if I have any important messages from my sister (who is my babysitter) or my other coworkers.
I’m just. so. much. happier.
I spent Sunday at a friend’s house. Having gone there originally because my kids were ancy and wanted to play with her kids outside, plus my husband was in pain and wanted some time alone, when I got there I saw her husband was beginning their annual vegetable garden. Having never planted much of anything in my life, something about it called to me. So I got on my hands and knees in my clean work clothes and dug into the earth. There were worms and spiders and other crawling things, all of which frighten me, but the sheer pleasure of having the dirt on my hands and knowing I was placing these vegetables into the earth to grow and produce real, actual food, unlike what I typically eat, was such a wonderous feeling.
I listen to podcasts on my way to work now, not music, and I enjoy more quietude with a book now more than ever. I feel like a very different person, and it’s incredible.
I can’t say why Facebook had the opposite effect on me as life without Facebook, but merely observe the effects.
He's starting to look a lot like his dad. #timeflies #iandalai #lifewithoutfacebook my first love. Mi maestro día tras día. #blessed #firstmiracle
Right after I posted my random thought on FACEBOOK this morning, Tim texted me about the post as if he was posting a comment on it. He still doesn't know how to use FACEBOOK.
When he arrived in the UK He bought his NEW iPhone4 because he thought he couldn't handle the latest model without me.
Isn't he cute?
