Lights for Liberty July 12

My husband and son have a Boy Scout commitment Friday night, so I thought I’d see if my daughter would be interested in attending the Lights for Liberty vigil with me. This is a nationwide event (there are a few in Canada, too) to protest the concentration camps the US government is running. I explained what we would be protesting, what’s happening and why, then asked if she wanted to go with me, her response was, “Why the hell wouldn’t I?”

If you’re a U.S. citizen horrified by the concentration camps, this is one of the ways you can get the point across that this is not okay, and that we won’t stand for this.

I also encourage contacting your representatives and senators, and donating to organizations like RAICES (The Refugee and Immigrant Center for Education and Legal Services).

Nationwide Protests on July 12 Against ICE Concentration Camps

Lights for Liberty has organized candlelight vigils on the night of Friday, July 12 to protest the kidnapping and abuse of refugees—Most critical are the 5 main protests in the following cities:

Homestead, FL

El Paso, TX

San Diego, CA

New York City

Washington, DC

—As well as protests that are being held at detention facilities themselves—please check the list to see if there are any near you; they’re listed along with the city and state where applicable. I think almost every if not every state has one or more protests organized as well as some in Canada and the UK. While extensive these are not the only protests being organized in the coming weeks so keep a lookout for more in your area.

Lights For Liberty is hosting events on July 12, 2019 to help stand up for immigrant rights and protest against the inhumane treatment of people in detainment camps. There are several locations of these events worldwide and you can click here to find one near you.

If you can’t make it to one of the protests, they have a donation page and a merch page if you’re able to financially help. This is extremely important.
