I'm ready for this whole dark skinned vs. light skinned thing to be over. It's actually quite disgusting. The first thing I see on my Twitter TL is, "A dark skinned girl vs. a man is a fair fight." Like whhhheeeeeet? That tweet sends so many erroneous messages. Women and men need to keep their hands off each other (unless they're having sex). I definitely do not agree with men hitting women. And why are we continuing to let society tell us that our darker women and men of color are worth less than the lighter ones? The Willie Lynch letter should really be required reading in school. Maybe then people will see that we're still letting him influence the way we see our sisters, brothers, friends, and cousins. Most importantly...the way we see ourselves. Because thoughts are definitely a reflection of self. And don't tell me to lighten up because it was just a joke.
