we were never special or destined or anything at all. revali @ zelda but what if it's after they failed to stop ganon
some meme. ♡ * @lightsmartyr.
she had known desperation like she had known duty— a lifelong stain on the back of her mind, once in royal ink, now in blood.
there was nothing but the nothingness in the aftermath of the calamity’s relentless destruction, only contained by her best effort, which was not only manifested much too late, it was barely good enough. a key piece was missing, or rather, slumbering. the chamber stood sealed and secret, and the only thing left now seemed to be the rain, unrelenting. now that her body was contained, she could only remember the sensation of it, the last thing her skin felt as her chest tried to contain the truth of the matter: everyone, dead. revali’s voice brought back the thought of that splattering, and the kind she missed within each divine beast as each champion fell.
hyrule contained her now, yes, but only in flesh.
she supposed she felt something akin to an eye on the sky, watchful and unremarkable beyond the very least she did for the world. vah medoh soared on, corruptive in its scrutiny. a machine, no less fallible than them. revali’s own essence, trapped in and with the very same thing that killed him. in that sense, her hands weren’t any cleaner— i recruited you.
“you misunderstand, revali,” her voice is thick with shame, “the title of champion was one that was earned, not simply assigned. you were all extraordinary—” true heroes, if there had to be a word for it, “i was the only piece missing in this arrangement. and for that i… i will forever be sorry. i kept you all in a constant wait. in life, and now…” in death, also. her following silence sounded just as obscene.
