🪲 - layla blinked in surprise and instinctively reached up to touch her hair. mostly, people never noticed if she did anything with it or not - and given how curly it was, she spent quite a bit of time taming it. so it was nice when she received the compliment and she smiled warmly at mj. “i did, yeah! i tried out a new product and decided to attempt to put a clip in it to hold some of it back, thank you!” genuine appreciation flowed from her as she settled back into her chair. “you have lovely hair too, not many folks i’ve ever seen has such vibrant natural red. it compliments your skin very nicely.”

🔎 - “oh wow, wow okay.” nancy took one foot inside of zap-ping and suddenly felt a striking sense of nostalgia, missing home, and dread all in one fell-swoop. the neon, the bright lights, the sounds of the machines, and worse-yet the smells were everything she remembered about every time she would take mike and his friends to the local arcade back home in indiana. she really missed mike. “mia? mia! hey, sorry i’m late - it seems to be a chronic thing for me these days, but... well, i’m here now!” she enjoyed mia’s company and ran up to her as she turned to stare at the ms. pac-man machine with curiosity. “my brother’s friend dustin was really good at this.” she noted, smiling softly to herself before turning back to her friend. “do you miss home?”

⚰️ - in truth, lestat had not expected to find a equal competitor in the likes of fashion and wealth - but the woman who had entered the shop after him, adorned with just as fine clothing and the air of aristocracy had sent all his curiosity and sensations ablaze. his pupils widened with adrenaline as he watched her as hungrily as a wolf and waited for her notice. the hunt was on. “mademoiselle, it is a pleasure - ” he approached, a smile as curt and as deadly as was his beauty. “- are you from... the cambria one as well?” he asked, raising a brow at her as he very noticeably gave her a scathing once-over. “choosing to wear white in the night market, such a bold choice.” he layered the thickened french into his words to show a sense of importance. “lestat de lioncourt, an equal in finery.”

📱 - as he stood outside of their now apparently shared apartment - which felt like some weird sort of fanfiction troy or abed would have found in the deep recesses of the internet - jeff held onto the dark blue hoodie in his hands, neatly folded and mostly recently washed. so what if he wore it a few times, it’s not like he didn’t think britta or annie had a thing for liking how he smelled or anything - and waited for the latter to show up. which didn’t take long at all, his lips upturned into a smile at her usual promptness. “milady,” he called out as he held the article out to her. “as promised, one favorite hoodie for you. also, what does sad face, bananasadface, and that other one i can’t remember already mean?” he added, leaning up against the wall and turning his smile into a smirk. “but also, are you really okay?”

🔮 - “uh...” bonnie stood there for a moment as her brows furrowed and she had to take the time to process the question. it certainly was... something to ask out of curiosity and she quickly opened and then closed her mouth again before letting out a hum. “i mean i do understand a little bit of clairvoyancy but i’m not sure you really want an answer to that...?” she asked, tilting her head and offering a strained but genuine smile. “seriously, i’m going to be optimistic here and say that no, this is not how we’re going to die. i refuse to accept that. and... you should too!”

🔎 - “mj, please - i have had six lattes and i really don’t think i can have another. aside from having to pee every five minutes, i’m fairly certain i am well over the caffeine count a human should have in a week, let alone a day.” she begged, feeling her nerves afire as she jittered about. she had agreed to taste the samples of what mj was experimenting with, but at this point (and for her own lack of forgetting to eat), nancy was sure she’d be awake for a month. “okay, i’ll drink another but let me order a sub or something so i have food to battle this.” she half-joked before pausing, “by the way, i really like this one - what was it again?”

🤖 - “did you know that you have the best selection of sherry on this ship?” maeve started, as she eyed emma when she walked in. “actually, i’m sure you do - but it’s a compliment nonetheless,” she continued, holding the sherry glass up to the light to admire the liquid within. how she had favored the drink by either her choice or it was programmed, she’d never truly know - but it was nice to have the choice to continue to favor it now. “you have a look that could kill, i admire it, but i hope it’s not directed at me. on the high chance it isn’t, who are we hating, darling?”

❛   he’ll  go  on  for  a  while.   ❜  the  same  of  which  clearly  can't  be  said  for  mia  or  tony,  both  seated  atop  foldable  mats  and  regarding  steve  with  a  near  admirable  lack  of  subtlety.  in  tony’s  defense,  he  hasn't  had  a  reason  to  try  for  it  in  quite  some  time.  there's  only  so  many  years  of  friendship  and  fighting  and  everything  in  between,  of  a  certain  closeness,  before  nothing  is  worth  trying  to  be  subtle  about.  plus,  well,  if  there's  anyone  that's  used  to  being  looked  at  it's  definitely  steve.  ❛   it's  all  fun  and  games  until  you're  trying  to  keep  up  with  him  on  a  run.   ❜
