Taking a break from prompts to do more personal work, but this still counts as an artfight submission according to the discord’s rules as I’ve read them. I decided to do a speedpainting of a Liichuz to figure out some stuff with lighting and timing my process when it comes to more refined sketchy paintings. This was started last night but I got around to finishing it today. 

Probably will do more of these to improve, I’m not completely satisfied with the outcome.

I’m not completely pleased with how this one came out, it feels too messy and a bit clunky. But, again I taught myself a few useful tricks with it, so it’s not a complete loss.

I’m probably going to be stepping away from speedpainting as I try to learn new ways of detailing and shading, just to let myself and in the process my work, breathe. Usually I’ve been trying to stuff these into 3 hours for the sake of teaching myself to work quickly in the event I open these for commissions, but I think I found the limit for that timeframe for now when it comes to experimenting.

If I do open them, I’ll just keep the three hour slots to headshots and time a new slot for busts.

Some owl witch characters I’ve been working on while waiting for people to sign up for commissions. I’ve decided to call them Liichuz in my headworld, since I’m going to keep the design but play around a bit to fit them into the lore. They’re going to be part of a desert country that is made up of different types of undead, complete with a government that revolves around it both religiously and politically.

For this I wanted to play around more with posing and a scrapped idea for shock coloration on the wings, and the one headshot portrait as an idea for feathers.
