People acting like if Barb is Enclave or betrays Cooper (again), this somehow makes the writing in S2 less bad and the random reconciliation not stupid.
My guy. The damage to the characterisation and narrative is done. Yes, it'll be 'good' for the show if they pull up, but that doesn't make the engine failure and near-crash just part of the journey. All the little warning lights will still be flashing, the passengers aren't going to think it was a nice flight.
#they can't escape the terribleness of that postcard shit no matter what they do#truly embarrassing scene the stink of which will not be washed away#fallout#negativity#like is it salvageable in the sense that they can backpeddle hard on all this Barb stuff and the show will be watchable again#(as long as we all pretend it was a fakeout and/or that it never happened)? sure#is it salvageable in the sense that we will look back and think they were in perfect control the whole time and it all makes sense?#absolutely not#the choice itself cannot be saved it's going to remain a huge mistake and a low point#the question is whether it's a low point followed by some kind of recovery or the start of a downward spiral#I currently expect option two#because nothing they've said has been very reassuring that anything interesting will happen ever again#(or that they understand what was ever good about the show)#and because I have this terrible thing called experience#also people are now trying to draw moral equivalence between Barb being high up in Vault-Tec and actively complicit in the end of the world#and Cooper becoming a ruthless gunslinger in order to survive as a ghoul in a post-apocalyptic wasteland#like those are the same and have the same weight and this makes him a hypocrite for not agreeing with her that she's justified in#(reminder) FACILITATING THE DEATHS OF BILLIONS OF PEOPLE#just because she's a fatalist and thinks she couldn't stop it and therefore this is the only way to save Janey#I was reading the tags on a gifset ready for my head to actually explode#he didn't say anything because he was horrified at her logic and that she'd ever think he would condone it not because she gotcha'd him#I'm disgusted#him being worn down into accepting a kill-or-be-killed status quo over centuries of trauma is NOT THE SAME#as her being a cushy executive approving vault experiments and deciding her comfort was more important than the fate of humanity#literally comparing him shooting bounty hunters who are trying to kill him with Barb's banality of evil office job sending people to#Dr Mengele's sleep away camp#like fucking#Jesus wept#it is SYMPATHETIC that she would burn down the world for her child it is not in any way JUSTIFIABLE#she is not a good person by any stretch of the imagination!
