I’m not asking much.
I'm usually a happy guy. If I go to a friends house and my phone easily connects to their wifi, life is good. I have great kids. Sure they drive me nuts and I'm sure I am a headache to them often. (But besides the times we want to kill each other, we all love each other.) I gave my daughter specific instructions to wash the dishes yesterday. That was all I wanted from her. Well, I come home and find only part of the dishes done. Now I'm thinking, why did she do some and leave the rest? Did she take the "That's good enough" attitude and just quit? When I finally caught up with her I asked, "What gives with the dishes, you go tired and just said I can't do anymore?" She informed me that "She doesn't do Tupperware or Pots and Pans." I said well our oven might be self-cleaning but our dishes are not. I usually just roll with the punches of being a parent. This didn't sit well with me. I remember changing diapers when you kids were little and how there was a stretch when you wet the bed so much the mattress had a shallow and a deep end. I accepted and dealt with all that, but guidelines to what dishes you'll wash are not going to fly with me. My daughter said; "I hear you dad". As I left the room I promised her that I'm planning on living long enough to be a burden to you!" She shot back, "Dad you don't need to scare me."
