Goodbye Guys

I've been completely absent for a couple of months and I apologize. I'm too busy for tumblr and it is time that I just delete my account and move on. I was not trying to propagate false information about the asylum seeker post, at the time of writing the post I was unaware of labours involvement. Obviously that's my mistake but I just thought I'd let you know that it wasn't intentional, even though that's hardly an excuse.

Oh gosh I wasn’t trying to attack you for spreading false information, I’m sorry if it came off that way.

I just feel that when news without source covering only the core of the story spreads, it becomes easy to just blame Abbott without really thinking thoroughly about how such a law was even able to pass in the first place.

Once we realise that both sides were responsible to for getting this law to pass we’ll be one step closer to actually being able to demand change in the most efficient way. 

Again, I didn’t mean to come off as aggressive, I just want people to remain as informed as possible. Tumblr obviously isn’t the best place for that but it’s always possible to make it easier if everyone pitches in, you know? That’s really all I was trying to do.

You will find appropriate sources to the asylum seeker post on my blog. My post is my misleading, please don't believe the spin that is being put on this law. Just because they repackage it with a pretty now does not mean it's any less harmful. Read the article by a person who actually worked at Manus Island and see what I mean.

Thanks for messaging me, and more thanks for those sources! I don’t in fact think you were intentionally misleading, but I feel that it’s extra important to be super crystal clear on things with which we disagree, for a variety of reasons. For one thing, how many times have you seen some asshole shut down an otherwise good argument with “you got X detail wrong, therefore everything you say is totally untrustworthy?”

I also don’t believe the spin that’s being put on it- in fact, I ultimately agree with your conclusion. The provisions I mentioned are clearly woefully inadequate to prevent the law’s use in covering up abuses, but acknowledging that they exist is important for the same reason I just said.
