TRAINERS WERE PRIME TARGETS for when he needed help with his research. His grandfather used to use the same tactic -- it was easier to use the help of those that would be roaming around than to go out and do it yourself when there were a million other things to do in the lab. He could remember all the complaining he did when he was young about this sort of thing but now he understood exactly why Professor Oak did it. Now time to continue on that family legacy.
