the fact that the cat king's name is thomas is definitely a pun on the fact that male cats are called tomcats and the fact that no one is pointing this out is tragic

kinda just wanna put this out there but if any of you ever need a resource for like cultural stuff in case you're including charles' indian background in your fics, i am free.
i am pakistani + punjabi, speak urdu (and therefore a fair bit of hindi too), know a tiny bit of punjabi (and actually have people fluent in it living in the same house as me so yk), and fully willing to help out to whatever extent i can.
just putting this out there for the future like i would genuinely love to help any fic writers if they need it. like literally just ask, in fact i am begging you to ask-
everything i know about interview with the vampire (amc), from someone who has not watched interview with the vampire (amc) and has only consumed it via mutuals rb'ing gifsets but plans to watch it soon
this is my pre-gaming for watching this show. dipping a metaphorical toe into the fandom. i haven't read the books either.
there are 3 vampires: lestat, louis, and armand
armand's name may or may not be amadeo?
lestat and louis had a daughter named claudia
claudia was unhinged (which is fair. i would be too if i was stuck at age 15 forever)
claudia had a girlfriend named madeline
claudia and madeline died together (without even having kissed each other. true love? sapphic teenagerism? perhaps both)
claudia's death caused lestat and louis to break up after like a century of dating or something
armand killed claudia?
there was a play involved in claudia's death...? i am incredibly confused about this one
either it was a play or an execution
the love triangle seems convoluted
armand is in love with louis and lestat is also in love with louis and lestat & armand have definitely also fucked each other
louis should just get the hell out of there actually. free my boy louis !!!
the interview is being done by daniel molloy who is bi (?) and definitely into that kinky shit
daniel molloy fucked either louis or armand in his youth (during the 80s maybe?). possibly he fucked both. the human pet of the marriage
daniel's memories got messed with to... forget fucking the vampires? idk. p sure armand did it though
that seems to be the consensus for most things in this show
armand did it.
claudia died? armand did it. daniel's memory got wiped? armand did it. louis stubbed his toe? armand probably did it.
armand needs to be sent to vampire jail this guy's a menace
also lestat had a midlife crisis after louis left him for armand and became a rockstar. i hope they release his songs on spotify as marketing. i wanna hear it
BONUS: lestat's album flops? armand did it.
anyway now daniel is old and interviewing armand and louis in dubai?
armand eats suicidal ppl?
daniel causes armand and louis' marriage to fall through
that's louis' 2nd failed marriage
surprisingly not his fault either time i think
armand turns daniel into a vamp
this is signficiant because armand has never turned anyone into a vamp
armand is going to fuck that old man
that old man has kids apparently
and swore someone out on live tv
BONUS 2: daniel got turned into a vampire? armand did it.
seriously what the hell is armand's problem (said affectionately. i have a feeling he's gonna be my fav when i watch)
does lestat know daniel?
claudia may or may not return from the dead
if she does i'll blame that on armand too
is armand french or not? he lives in dubai. has a french accent (?) but also not.
lestat is french. louis and claudia are american.
surprisingly, the americans are the nicest of the bunch. rare american W
also can lestat fly? did he throw louis from like... a 4 story height? ppl on twitter were mad abt it like last year
are there any other characters in this show except the ones i've named. it's been 2 seasons. 6 characters cannot be all there is.
DBDA characters + formal desi attire: Charles and Edwin (Pt. 1)
Part 2 Crystal
Part 3 Niko
Part 4 Jenny, Kashi, Night Nurse
Part 5 Esther, Monty, Cat King
This is not fanart, because I cannot draw, but if any fanartists want to use this as inspo, go ahead. And, before we begin, my fashion sense is not the best, so if any fellow desi people see this and have anything to add, go ahead. These aren't very detailed either tbh, because I am much more well versed in women's desi fashion than men's. Ok, now, let's go.
Charles Rowland
You know I had to start with my favourite desi boy of all time. I'm putting my man in a sherwani because he deserves it. Red's his colour, and it's also the colour associated with weddings in south asian culture, so yes, these pictures are technically bridegroom inspo.
So, I absolutely adore embroidered sherwanis, and I do think Charles would slay one of these beyond imagination. For full outfit references, see below.
Golden and red go together amazingly in desi wear, although they do usually denote wedding wear. But sherwanis fit so wonderfully on the shoulders + Charles' dangly gold earring would go so so well with the outfit !!
Edwin Payne
Yes, I'm imagining the British Raj era white boy in desi attire. Sue me. We all know blue's his colour, so of course I went for the blue sherwanis.
Now, blue and golden are an amazing colour combination and my original choice, because I wanted there to be a common colour between Charles and Edwin, but blue and silver/white was easier to find on Pinterest. You can see golden highlights on a few of these, though, and this next one.
This one is a bit plain but to be quite honest, it has a simple elegance to it that reminded me of Edwin. Its golden highlights mean that it would work best with golden trousers, like Charles' outfits up top.
BUT I also saw this amazing formal shalwar kameez in blue that I do think Edwin would look so so good in, so I have to add it here as a bonus idea.
+ Bonus Payneland
So, desi men's attire also has this thing where the sherwani itself is a muted colour and the man wears a cloth draped around himself in the highlighted colour (IDK what the cloth is called 😭). But I found these similar ones in blue/white and red/golden combo, and yes, it reminded me of Payneland.
LIKE. You can't tell me they wouldn't absolutely slay it. Like these are their wedding outfits to me, like for when they get married to each other.
Anyway, that's the limit for the pictures I can put on this post. Next one up is Crystal and Niko! I am so excited for Niko.
taglist because people seemed to want this and i don't want anyone to miss it. just say the word and i'll tag you for the next part: @queen-of-hobgobblers @mirabel-on-a-bicycle @shipspainfulships @read-write-thrive @justalunaticfangirl @guardianspirits13

ok so i don't know if this was just an age rating issue or something, but we never actually see edwin's past corpses in the dollhouse. there are no severed heads or limbs, and considering he's 6 feet tall, decades' worth of his corpses would probably have made entire piles all around the dollhouse.
in fact, edwin looked surprised seeing his face in the mirror in hell, which he shouldn't really be surprised by if he was seeing his own severed head in hell all the time anyway.
you know what we do see severed heads and limbs of though, littered all around the dollhouse? porcelain dolls.
from what we've seen, the doll spider's parts do not break off when it hits against walls, and there is no way edwin managed to fight back against it to the point of breaking off its body parts.
conclusion? when edwin gets ripped apart by the doll spider, his torn corpse parts turn into broken porcelain doll parts, and that is what the doll parts littered around the dollhouse are. edwin's corpses.
EDIT: ok so @khorazir pointed out in the replies that there is a scene where we see edwin's corpses (although only for a split second) but the pile is nowhere near enough to be decades' worth of edwins. so my post still stands but just wanted to correct myself on that point. maybe the dolls are what becomes of edwin's remains when they decompose to bone? just throwing ideas out there
in episode 7, edwin's notebook mentions not to venture into avarice (the circle of greed) in hell because "everything is too heavy", which i've seen interpreted in the fandom as "avarice weighed edwin down physically and he was unable to run from the doll spider."
in episode 1, esther's basement with the snake in it also weighed edwin down physically. quite heavily. being physically weighed down as a ghost is probably not a common occurrence and edwin's only reference to that feeling in esther's basement was, therefore, hell.
it's a miracle he didn't have a panic attack right there honestly.
i just saw multiple people in an instagram comment section saying they think chishiya will be revealed to be one of the creators of the borderlands in season 3.
do you know what lazy writing that would be? it would a cheap copout, leaning far too much into chishiya's genius archetype. it would take away everything interesting about him, and makes it so that he never had any real stakes in the borderlands. it makes him boring.
(elaboration under the cut and tl;dr at the bottom)
this is such a stupid issue i have with the witcher netflix show, but in s2, geralt is shown to be like a solid head taller than both eskel and vesemir.
kim bodnia (vesemir's actor) is 5'10". basil eidenbenz (eskel's actor) is 6'2". henry cavill is 6'1".
now i know it might have been to emphasize the fact that geralt's been through two rounds of mutagens unlike the other witchers, who've only been through one round, but in the same season, geralt's shown to be pretty much the same height as jaskier, who's been through zero rounds of mutagens.
why did they do that. why did they make eskel and vesemir so short. vesemir's actor is only like 3 inches shorter than henry cavill, and eskel's actor is taller. what was the point of making them both look 5'5".
EDIT: ok so apparently kim bodnia is pretty short (google lied to me) but my point still stands because there is literally a photo of basil eidenbenz next to henry cavill at the s2 premiere and he is, in fact, taller than cavill
