5. Childhood AU

"Get away from Kyungsoo you jerks!" The little girl screams and kicks away the bigger boys that were huddled around one area in the playground. The largest one of them all turns his head around with a sneer on his face, only to have it disappear once he sees Hyelim stalking at them at a quick speed. "Go go away!" She yells once more and it is all that takes for the boys to scramble away with yelps of their own.

She huffs loudly, brushing down her skirt before focusing her attention on the boy sitting on the floor. "Kyungsoo? Kyungsoo are you okay?" Said boy sniffs as he rubs his eyes with tight fists, soft cheeks padded with pink from the continuous tears that kept on spilling out. "Did they hurt you again?" Kyungsoo says nothing as he stares down hard at the ground as if it personally offended him. 

He's quiet for a moment before he mumbles something under his breath. Hyelim furrows her eyebrows before leaning down closer. "What did you say?" The boy finally looks up, eyes still shining with tears but rubs them away just as quickly.

"K-Kyungsoo said that Kyungsoo could take care of himself!" He says loudly before pushing himself off the ground to stand up. However he wasn't the most developed boy in his grade, thus his height was shorter than even Hyelim's. His shorts are covered in dirt and stained with grass, knees scraped slightly but enough for some blood to appear. "Kyungsoo...Kyungsoo is a big boy and mommy said that big boys should n-...ne...nether cry!" Kyungsoo replies as he furiously wipes away the stray tears with the back of his small hand.

Five year old Kyungsoo stomps his feet on the ground, hands curled into tiny fists on his sides. "Kyungsoo promises that he'll grow up up up big and and pro...protect Lime! Promise!"
