Doctor's Orders
Jim groaned softly as he sat up in bed, hair ruffled, eyes squinting against the low light. Spock, across the room, looked up from his PADD, a hint of affection his eyes.
Good morning, Jim.
And that made it better, hearing Spock’s voice, feeling the warmth of his love. But still…
You never came to bed last night.
He knew he sounded wounded. Needy. He didn’t care.
Spock was there, crouched beside the bed, cradling Jim’s hand in both of his. You’re looking better, but Leonard said you needed rest. I’m not going to argue with your doctor.
A grunt, a hand flap of dismissal. I can rest with you in our bed.
Spock’s eyebrow lifted. Jim shrugged. I don’t always—
The eyebrow, impossibly, raised higher.
Alright, alright. And Jim was laughing, and warm, but his bruised ribs protested and he gasped.
Back to bed, Spock commanded. Jim obeyed.
You’ll stay?
Spock’s fingers brushed, ever so lightly, against Jim’s.
Always.
