How would the Surgeon feel when he learns that lobotomies are practiced in mayberry?

In this case the personality of Dr.Lis Polarny would resurface in its purest form, oh he would be angry, years of years of research and improvement of neuroscience and those....barbarians still dare to use such an outdated method?

He would "love" (sarcasm) to meet the doctors who are still conducting such surgeries, to give them a piece of his mind, you know, the one that has the knowledge, memories and experiences of a thousand doctors and a thousand more surgeons.

If he could, the Surgeon would fire all the doctors and medical personnel of Mayberry and replace them with competent people oh and he would make sure that the people he, in theory would dismiss, would never be allowed to work in the medical field again.

what was Lis first operation as the Surgeon?

I like to think it was a rather simple surgery he had to preform, under the guidance and monitoring of other medical personnel who made sure that everything would go as planned. There were no great complications and all went well without any glitches or other problems surfacing the "Trial Surgery" was seen as total success, a few more followed until the Surgeon was allowed to preform their first one under limited monitoring, and then allowed to work independently that was, I think shortly before he left to join the Wrath.

where is Lis colleague in the present day? did he leave the psychiatric hospital?

As far as I know, no, they never left the psychiatric hospital, which means he is, or has been in there since the late 1950 or early 60s, they never released him.

The Surgeon never really informed himself if the former colleague of Dr .Lis Polarny is still alive or if they had passed away, but given that by now it has been at least over 70 years, the Surgeon believes it to be very unlikely for him to be still alive.

I do wonder why there was only 1 voice out of the other 1998 telling Liz to do the surgery to save Carlos?

Because the surgical procedure the Surgeon had to preform, to save Carlos Rojas went against ever moralistic and ethical boundaries of a surgeon who made an oath to save people, not harm them. All those memories, experiences and knowledge from other doctors and surgeons, spoke against it because it went against their principles.

Lis Polarny was the only voice, to speak for the surgery, because they did not want to loose Carlos Rojas. For Carlos Rojas to survive, the Surgeon had to "take" the live of Jude Valentine (in the present "the Surgeon" is not aware that Jude Valentine is actually still alive) and for that they had to deactivate all moralistic and ethical boundaries and their emotions. Causing also the other voices to go quiet, and the robotic Surgeon to do the surgery without any inhibitions. This of course would later come with the price that 1999 voices would near constantly shout on the inside of the Surgeon that what he did was wrong , that he went against everything a surgeon and that they are an disgrace to all surgeons of the world. Which ultimately lead the Surgeon to rip his own head off, deactivating himself until he got repaired.

what was the surgeon first thought when he saw the war general Sam cottontail for the first time?

When the Surgeon, saw for the first time General Cottontail, there was a, familiar feeling, as if he had seen this, albino rabbit once before, but, despite searching trough his database/memories he couldn't say why.

Thinking that he is probably confusing him with someone else, he cast the thought aside.

I also believe that it would take some time / some major event happening that the Surgeon would realize that Sam Cottontail was in the past basically the reason that Lis Polarny got injured. Because Sam does not really like doctors, so Sam would avoid the Surgeon as good as possible. Yours sincerely Bowler

You are correct, the surgery Dr.Lis Polarny was supposed to approve, was the lobotomy of little Sam Cottontail, who the arctic fox refused. List would have not been the one to preform the surgery, but rather his colleague, who held the believe that if the lobotomy would be "successful", then he, the colleague would get fame and recognition for their "good work", after all it was the son of an army personnel he would have preformed the surgery on.

Lis did it because he was never fond about the concept of lobotomy, he saw it as butchery and never understood how severing connections of the brain, could do any good in the patients head and mind! There was also the factor that in Lis home country, when it fell into civil war, the government used lobotomy as a justification to silence political opponents and everyone else they saw as "enemy of the state."

The Surgeon, in the present has forgotten who the patient was that was supposed to undergo surgery. However, should one day the Surgeon discover/remember that it was Sam. Let's just say, it won't be as easy for Lis anymore to silence the voices of the other 1999 memories/experiences/knowledge than it was before.
