Atelje - 50/50
Atelje brings forth a Balearic hymn of immense proportions in the shape of Zephyr. Atelje is Dan Lissvik of Studio fame. Yes, the Gothenburg based duo that turned Kylie into a Balearic temptress and got us all excited by a West Coast that had nothing to do with Rap, Hollywood or Venice Beach. Since Studio split in 2011, Lissvik has released a couple of albums under his own name and worked on a wealth of material. What we are really interested in here is Atelje, the guise he chose for the Meditation album in 2014. His second vinyl release as Atelje is an absolute beauty. Zephyr is a monster of a song, with its innocent plucked guitars, shimmering chords and steady percussion. It has a subtle addictive beauty, which captures your imagination and keeps you enamoured for the full 11 minutes. Flip for 50/50 (actually the A side) for some sunshine guitar pop grooviness and the short whistling assisted Aah. This release is a fantastic ode to the end of summer, which will keep you warm during the colder months.
