Ask and Ye Shall Receive

I never really felt that this blog had reached many people but this week, the universe has showed me how wrong I have been. First off, out of the blue a playwright who submitted to the Hangar reached out to me about a past play I directed. Then, a few posts back I asked for playwright's input on what their experiences have been with submitting plays and what they hope it could be. I realized that a playwright who reads my blog actually responded and I just somehow missed it. After contacting her and asking her to reblog the post. I received input not only from tumblr, but my e-mail as well. So to everyone who responded.... Thank You and if you would like to throw your 2 cents my way, I'd love to hear it.

It seems that alot what playwrights are wanting from theaters are things that we already have in place, or things I hope to implement in my time at the Hangar. It's great to know that we're doing things right. I hope we can build strong relationships with playwrights and they can walk away from the Hangar feeling encouraged. So again, thanks to everyone who responded. I look forward to being a part of a Literary Department that values and respects playwrights.

Literary Manager on Tumblr????

So as I mentioned in a previous post, I am now the Literary Manager at the Hangar Theatre in Ithaca, NY. For those who don't know, I mostly manage the processing of new plays. So as I've become more organized with things, I wondered is there were others of us out in the tumbl-verse......

So if you are out there....who are you?...How do you run your department?......I'm curious for any and all information you guys have....

And PLAYWRIGHTS! what are your hope in contacting a theatre about your plays?....what's been your experience.....how could we make it better?
