Eek, another little!Matt story-- this time, including near bc why not ack- uhm, so in this one, Matt basically has had a really rough week, and hasn't gotten time to relax at all, so, at the end of the week, he finally gets time to relax and decides to watch a movie (p.s. it's my favorite movie lol) and- it's rlly angsty and stuff

What a week Matt's had, poor boy hadn't even found time to relax at all due to how much work he's doing, just restless nights of him working, it's just been exhausting for him, then finally, Friday rolls around and he managed to find time to relax, deciding to put on a movie, even if he wasn't a fan of them. Scrolling through Netflix for at least 20 minutes, looking through all the movies there was to watch, scrolling through each genre (except for horror and thriller), just when he was about to give up, something caught his eye, a movie called 'The Mitchells Vs The Matches' Matt slightly tilted his head "what's this movie about?" He asked himself, clicking on it, "a move about a robot apocalypse? Seems interesting, and a family saves the world? Neat.." Matt got himself comfortable, starting up the movie and letting all the negativity wash away
After almost 20 minutes, Mello got home "Matt, I'm home" no response "Matt?" Mello assumed he was asleep but he wanted to check on him "Matt? Whaddya doing?" "Just, watching a movie" "eh? I thought you didn't like movies?" "I don't but uhh..I've had a rough week..no time to relax at all, so uhm..i-i just thought maybe watching something would relax me.." "well..if you say so" Mello says, quietly closing the door, and walking back to the living room, leaving Matt by himself, meanwhile, Matt wanted to message Near about a question he had
Near, looking at the question, slight worry in his face, had to tell Mello, he can't just keep this to himself, Matt's question was just so...upsetting, at the fact Matt never really knew what a family was like, and the fact he went and asked him and not Mello, he was concerned for Matt
Mello quietly knocked on Matt's door, hearing a soft "come in" from the other side, Mello walked in, sitting next to Matt in bed, before Mello could ask something, Matt spoke up first "so..uhm, just wondering, are all families like this?" Mello sighed softly, not responding, just hugging Matt tightly "Mello?" "...well, to answer that..uh...no, not all, you see- every family is different, it wouldn't be so interesting if they were the same, right?" "R-right.." Mello took a deep breath "I..I understand, a topic like this is..weird, considering you might not understand.." "yeah..I don't understand.." "a-and uh..and that's okay, it's okay to not understand a lot of things...but y'know.. you're lucky I'm around, I can help you understand things you might not understand, and we'll, on some occasions I don't understand, but that's fine, we..we could figure out together" Matt quietly laughed, wrapping his arms around Mello and pecking him on the cheek
That night, Matt's worries and negativity went away, at a few of the sad moments, Matt still had the question..knocking in the back of his head, but he brushed it off as it didn't matter now, he already had it answered

It was a regular day, and Matt was playing on his game console, he was bored, he was supposed to be spying on Mogi and Aizawa but that was boring since there was nothing changing, thoughts were running through his mind, he took note of the fact his little self hasn't come out all day and it was honestly worrying, usually it would come out whenever he wakes up at a random time, this time it didn't, was he stressed? That could be the only explanation, stress, but why was he stressed out? He let this run through his head, up until his cellphone started ringing
"Matt, how's it going with Mogi and Aizawa?" "Nothing is changing...it's so bowing watching something that nevew chan..ges.." he's noticed he's slipped, now he was panicking, Mello listened as Matt kept repeating his sentence, but ended up giving up and started crying "alright..just stay where you are okay Matt? I'm getting over there right away" Mello hung up, hoping on his motorcycle and speeding over to Matt's house. Meanwhile, Matt searched his room for his favorite plush, a rabbit that he got when he was only a baby, it was his favorite thing and he likes to carry it around, eventually he managed to find the small rabbit and held it close to his chest, also grabbing the pacifier on the bed and sloppily putting it in his mouth, he calmed down a bit, the dam of tears slowly stopping and all he had to do now was wait for Mello to get here
Mello was lucky Matt had left the door unlocked in case anything like this happened, he ran over to Matt's room to find him sitting on the floor hugging his favorite plush "hey...you doing okay?" the little turned to face Mello, his eyes round and innocent "I..I dunno.." Matt sniffled looking at the floor, Mello bent down a bit to be at his height "I know what'll make you feel better, just me being here comforting you..does that sound good?" Matt happily nodded, wrapping his arms around Mellos arm and giggling quietly
Mello sighed softly, rubbing Matt's back, who was peacefully sleeping in Mello's arms, it's Mello's job to be Matt's caregiver, probably best to not give him something difficult to do like spying on people little him doesn't know at all, even if this job is difficult, it feels rewarding he's succeeding
So I can't stop thinking about the little!Matt headcanon thing, uhh I guess this is more about it??

He absolutely loves playing with stuffies, his favorite is his rabbit
Has a stripped blanket the Mello had got him, he sleeps with it all the time (mainly since it's soft)
When he's big, he's actually really shy about buying stuff for his little side, so Mello comes with him so it doesn't look too weird
BEGS for attention whenever he can get it

Caregiver!Mello
Honestly proud he's succeeding at being a caregiver, despite not having experience
At first, he didn't understand what Matt meant, but overtime he took it upon himself to be Matt's caregiver if nobody else will
If Matt's upset, he tries to comfort him, unless Matt needs some time by himself then he'll leave him in their room to calm down
Mello doesn't get why Matt panics whenever he slips into little space sometimes, not even Matt knows why

He's trying his best to understand Matt
Kinda already knew the whole time but wasn't entirely sure
Knows how much Mello is succeeding at being a caregiver, pretty proud of him honestly
First time where him and Matt met (after not seeing each other for so long), he'd noticed that Matt was shy about meeting him again (considering he's not a people person at all)
He ends up finding the puppets he made on Matt's fingers, who's trying to get them off
