Our #SourDiesel is looking much better! When we first got it, it didn't seem to want to grow like our Blue Shark was! But after Bradley cut off some of the dying leaves (so that the plant could focus its energy elsewhere) this baby has been growing thicker and thicker! #GrowingMarijuana #LittleBuds

Starting Our Cannabis Clones!

We finally did it guys. We finally got our clones! We have two of them as of right now: our Sour Diesel (Sativa Dominant) and our Blue Shark (Indica Dominant). The plants are in soil right now, but they won’t be for long. We’re planning to use a Hydroponic System (sub-categorized as a Deep Water Culture System) to grow these plants. 

Basically, we’ll be rooting these plants in a netted pot and suspending them just above a 5 gallon bucket of water (to the point where the bottom of the netted pot will still be submerged in the water). The bucket of water will be rich with nutrients that are essential to the plant’s growth. We’ll then place an air pump into the water to promote oxygen flow from the bottom of the bucket and up to the roots. But I’m getting ahead of myself. We’ll talk more about this system and how we’re putting it together when our clones are bigger.

For now, they’re still pretty small and pretty fragile. We have two fans (clipped to the PVC pipes about 3 feet above the plants) blowing a small amount of air on them so that they can get stronger. We also have our light (suspended about 5 feet above the plants) on veg mode. We’re running 24 hours of light on these plants for now, but we’re thinking of doing a 16/8 light cycle when we have them netted.

The soil was already pretty damp when we first got the plants, so there was no initial need to water them. Now that it’s been about a day and the top half inch of the soil is drying up, we’re planning on giving the plants some water in the morning. Tap water should be fine for plants in this stage.
