So in any romantic, loving relationship, passing wind (farting) in the presence of ones significant other is a barrier breaker for better or worse. In the ‘Points of Pain’ world and the ‘Smoke and Grit’ world, who/ whom between Pearl and Garnet would be the first to break that barrier? I’m almost tempted to hit that anon button.
I admire your bravery in posing this question without the anon mask! It’s a funny question, and was quite fun to think about.
In Smoke and Grit, Pearl would have broken that barrier loudly and given zero fucks about it. Garnet would discretely fan away the smell.
In Points of Pain, Garnet would have broken that barrier first, probably silently and deadly due to her diet of greens and lean meats. Pearl would be far too self-conscious to fart in Garnet’s presence.
Howzit :D How do you juggle (emotionally) writing Points of Pain and Repute & Rapture? Both stories are different in tone and atmosphere. Do you have to get into a certain state of mind or does one story sort of balance out the other? Am I making sense?
Your question does make sense! Haha, no worries there. :)
Juggling these stories has been more complicated than I thought they would be, not just because of how different they are, but because I have two stories going on at once and my attention is split. So the best way I do it is to designate a time frame to working and focusing on one while the other gets moved to the back burner. Lately it’s been more of once I finish x chapter I’ll switch back to the other.
It does require a major shift in tone and a few days to get rolling smoothly. Both put me in two very different states of mind. Both have their drawbacks and benefits on how they affect me/how easy or difficult they are to write. There is a nice balance that if I’m needing more fluff R&R generally has that, and then if I need more angst PoP has lots of that, hahaha. Although it is dependent on what parts of the story I am on. PoP does have fluff and R&R does have angst.
So yes? Haha, they both challenge me in different ways and push me to be a better writer, though I will say PoP is easier for me to write than R&R.
Hope that makes sense!
