ngl I am rereading the goblin emperor for the fourth or so time, maybe, and just did the whole meeting with Gormened - choosing an empress - privacy for our needs - Berenar offering to tutor Maia - rigamarole. whirlwind. whatever you want to call it. hhhhhhhhh this book is JUST REALLY GOOD, YOU GUYS i am lightly obsessed with something that I had noticed before but had forgotten about, which is Maia's one-off line of saying that he insisted that Csevet take a cup of this really strong, really hot tea I really badly want to know the context of that. I really want to know the context of that. the fact that Maia had "insisted"! he doesn't really do that often. I wonder, was it that he thought Csevet would enjoy it? did Csevet look tired? was it just good? was it to help warm Csevet up, because it's winter? it's such an amicable thing that Maia barely gives thought to and I WANT TO KNOW MORE OF THE CONTEXT and like, did Csevet demur or protest? because the word insist is carrying a lot of connotations, and maybe Maia's overstating it because it's Maia, but also, but also it's such a thing. because, like, it could have been that he was just picking at his meals and sharing the excess with Csevet, but I don't think it was, because he woke up well rested and in a good mood, actually, and also, I think it contrasts what almost immediately follows it up - the red-ribboned courier bringing Maia's signet over, and Maia noticing that the courier is Csevet's friend! And him looking at this signet, while the two of them laugh about something or other outside the door, and him literally hiding his face so that Beshelar and Cala won't see his emotional reaction, and it all makes me think of the "we cannot be your friend" bit and aghhhhhhhhhhhhhh and, like, it's kinda foreshadowing, a bit, too? because Maia feels like this signet is heavy, just as heavy as his other rings that symbolize being the emperor, but it rests easier on him, because it carries the symbol of his mother. and he chose it, too, because he loves his mother, in defiance of convention, and like... make! that! dav! he can have something like friendship. it doesn't have to be as awful as the traditionalists say. just…keep doing your own thing. your own choices, even if they're not the done thing. remember what your mother has taught you. IT'S GOOD STUFF
god save gladion who has to deal with these sappy ass 10 year olds
My nose has opened up the floodgates and I’ve forgotten how much a runny nose SUCKS.
IS THIS GUY NAMED AFTER OYE COMO VA THE SANTANA SONG. i love steel ball run
I got up at 6am for work today, so I really shouldn’t feel this awake at midnight.
I have been working 4-5 day weeks (and I usually don’t) and finishing my semester of Uni (I have 70% of an subject due tomorrow and it’s all g but it’s also wildly stressful). If I have been more absent than usual on here that’s why. I’m counting my blessings below the cut.
Anyway I need to count my blessings because I’m feeling all the feelings ahh:
- I’m not feeling depressed for the first time this year (the last 2 months I’ve been feeling better).
- the Uni stress will pass. I have less than a week to go and I’m past the more difficult stuff.
- I’m happy to be earning more, I just need a tad more balance (which will come with summer break). And not many people with casual jobs could say they worked through lockdown. I also am enjoying my job for the first time in over a year.
- I’ve met some new friends recently who are Swifties and all round cool people. (Which is amazing to do post lockdown).
- also I’ve found some gems of fics recently, and I’m rereading a fave right now.
- 8 Days until Red TV (Better Man TV 🥳🥳).
Counting my blessings because I’m in the middle of a long and painful week in the midst of a long and painful lockdown (under the cut for people who aren’t interested)
