My 2016 Camp Experience

My favorite class in camp this year is reflection group with J.P. It is a great class that provides a safe space to share our thoughts and ideas. It is a nice way to check-in with everyone and see how they are doing. 

I do not regret picking The Point. It is a wonderful place to be  and is filled with caring and supporting people. This place provides many opportunites to be challenged and to grow as an individual. I enjoy coming to work; I look forward to participating in my major themost.

My major is cirque and I am happy with the progress I have made in my unicycling skills. I truly appreciate the class bond we have made. I am also grateful for our two coaches Yves and  Charlie. These two instructors work hard to make sure we do not give up and push further.

The "biggest" challenged I think I have faced this summer so far is being more outspoken. However, I have taken Initiative take on  more leadership roles. This camp experience at The Point has been so far so good.

Where I am from, and What I learned about it

I was born and raised in The Bronx. My Family is from San Juan, P.R.  The language predominately spoken in my family is Spanish. We call ourselves "Boricua" and its a tradition to use sofrito in many meals. Puerto Rican traditions derived from Spain and some of it's culture has developed from African Americans de to the presence of runaway and freed saves. One interesting historical event that happened in P.R. is called El Grito de Lares. EL Grito de Lares is the major revolt against Spanish rule in P.R. (1868) because of the tariffs and taxes spain imposed on them.

Open Hydrant & Bronx Prep Brings "Annie Jr." to THE POINT's Stage!!!

Last week I had the pleasure of taking part in a Hush Hip Hop Tours experience starting in downtown manhattan and going into east and west Harlem as well as the Bronx.  It was an amazing time learning from the legendary Grandmaster Caz and his team.  I look forward to partnering with Hush Tours in the coming months as a stop on the tour.  Much love and appreciation goes out to Debbie Harris and all of Hush Tours.
