The next chapter of my fanfic will be up tomorrow, yaaay!
(Also, the next two are already edited and formatted, so you won’t have to wait too long for those two either..)
Thank you so much for still sticking with this project :D
Two:
You all know I’ve also been writing short stories and I’ve recently finished the first draft of my novel (okay, last year, but it still counts as recent...ish). I am going to share more of my original writing on a separate blog
(I don’t want people to have to scroll through ZR fanart and Eurovision shitposting just to find my original stuff in between...)
So be on the look-out for a link to that blog! I really hope some of you are going to follow it, it would mean the world to me to share my original work with you all!
Three:
Guess what I finally found an apartment! It’s not cheap (because there is no such thing as cheap apartments where I live, it’s insane!), but it’s cute and semi-affordable, and I really really love it!
It’s close to work, close to the city centre, and it has two rooms. You hear that? TWO! As in: One more than I have now. As in: No more sleeping, eating, working, and living in the same room!
If everything works out with the contract, I’ll be moving there soon. I’ll have a small bedroom, a bathroom, a living room with an open kitchen, and a balcony with a nice view. I am SO excited! I’ve been looking for a new apartment for more than a year now, and just thinking about how it is most likely gonna happen is just ... I am ... I can’t tell you how happy I am!
That’s it!
Stay tuned for the next chapter of my fanfic, the link to the blog with my original writing, and for more posts of me gushing about my apartment!
A look back over her shoulders makes her blood freeze!
The zombies are fast. Freaking fast! Some of them have fallen behind a little, unable to keep up with her. But there are some that are fast. For zombies. And even for humans. They are not falling behind. They are actually catching up. She needs to speed up. She needs to get to the radio tower, somehow. No more detours.
The people at Abel seem to have noticed the weird zombie behaviour as well, cause the guy sounds even more nervous than before.
"They’re so fast, why are they so fast? They never run, why are they running?? Runner Five? Runner Five, they’re gaining on you!"
I know, she wants to say, but she can‘t speak, she needs to focus on running, getting enough oxigen into her lungs. Running just a little faster, a little faster...
Chapter 3 of Runner Five, Reporting for Duty! is now online. Sorry for the delay, everyone...
Frankie runs through the trees, jumps over roots, and only barely avoids another group of zombies breaking through the bushes.
She runs for her life.
And it‘s scary but also... also it‘s like it was when she was on her own, after Ocean View. Not a run organized by Mullins, where a helicopter or convoy could save her if push came to shove. Not a run where the jeeps with soldiers and guns were waiting for them. No, nobody here to save her now.
Just her own feet carrying her, closer and closer to the edge of the forest. There are fewer trees here, which makes running a little bit easier. It also makes it easier for the zombies to follow her though...
"Wow, there‘s .... there‘s someone alive down there, running!" Well, she's not all alone, there is still the voice in the headphones. Matt. No. Mark! Mark? He sounds excited. "Hey, can you hear me?"
"I hear you!" she shouts into her headset as she avoids a shambler and increases her pace a little. "I hear you..." dammit what is his name again?
"No answer," he says.
Frankie shouts into the headset again. Frustrated. But nothing...

I know I know, some of you really wanted me to write another chapter of “Help, I’m Alive!” and I promise I am working on that. It took me a while to figure out how to do it but I finally think I’ve cracked the code...
Until then, might I interest you in my new project. Less clever, more clichéd, but I’d love to share it with all of you:
My new ZR fanfic series called “Morning Keep the Streets Empty”. The Prelude “March On, Worker Bees” is now available!
Please check out the Introduction before heading into it! Just to make sure it’s the type of fanfic you’re interested in...
I was at a nanowrio meeting today, and I was super unmotivated to continue the novel I’m working on. So my friend gave me a prompt and half an hour, and I turned it into a ZR short story with Janine, Sam, Owen, and a super sassy Runner 5. Enjoy!
The Story with the Egg
(a ZR short story)
Prompt: Someone boils an egg. Things go wrong.
“So Runner 5, let me recap, just to make sure I understand: You came back from your run and walked into the comms shack to visit Mr Yao, who was not there at the time. You were still carrying snow on your boots. You decided to wait for him, but then you got hungry. Instead of going to the kitchens you had the brilliant idea to use the small electrical stove in the comms shack – the one we got Mr Yao so he could boil tea to keep warm in winter – to boil an egg.”
“I got the egg from the kitchen yesterday and kept it in the comm shack so it would keep cool. It was a thank you gift for finding that box full of spices. Our food is gonna taste so much better now.”
“You got a small pot, filled it, and when you were about to put the egg into the boiling water, Radio Abel played one of your favourite songs.”
“Ah yes, Another One Bites the Dust.”
“So you turned around to turn up the volume on the radio, and dropped the egg. To clean up, you took one of the towels from the cupboard. Another towel fell out and landed directly on the hot stove – which you didn't switch off because you were too busy singing along to the radio.”
“You have to understand, I love Queen... Even though we have a king now. Get it, Janine, get it?”
“The towel caught fire while you still freeing the floor from egg white. You didn't realize it was burning until you smelled the smoke and looked up to see the flames. You started screaming. Then the fire alarm in the comm shack went off. And Runner 6, who was just outside, stormed in, looking for the cause of the alarm and the screaming.”
“He really should learn how to knock...”
“He is still with Doctor Myers in the hospital!”
“Sam could have been here, operating a very difficult and dangerous mission. Owen could have distracted him by just storming in without knocking!”
“You were still screaming, trying to put out the fire, when suddenly Mr Yao arrived. With a baseball bat. Thinking that the comm shack was under attack. Without realizing it was Runner 6, Mr Yao hit him from behind with the bat. Runner 6 stumbled and slipped on the puddle of melted snow from your boots. He hit the electrical stove and spilled over the still boiling water, which burned his chest. The water also put out the fire on the towel, but not before setting the sleeve of Owen's sweater on fire.”
“That's why you should always wear protective gear when dealing with fire.”
“By then, you were still screaming in panic, so was Mr Yao. And Owen was screaming as well, but in pain. Then you took the other towel, still full of egg, and hit Runner 6 with it, to put out the flames. In the process, he got egg into his mouth, which he is highly allergic to.”
“Which - to be fair! - we didn't know.”
“So Owen fell to the floor, spraining his ankle, his sleeve still burning, going into an allergic shock and gasping for air – Another One Bites the Dust still playing in the background. And all you and Mr Yao could think of was … taking a selfie with him, with the camera of the laptop.”
“After calling for Doctor Myers!”
“This laptop is important and valuable equipment! And Runner 6 was in pain! Why did you take a selfie?”
“Come on, Janine, let's face it. If there ever was a moment to remember, it was this one. Even if Abel should fall, this will be our legacy to those who come after us. I mean, what are the chances of that happening?”
It doesn't matter how old you are. Not anymore. Not after the apocalypse. Age is part of the old life. Zombies are part of the new life.
It's been three weeks since the outbreak.

It’s chapter 2 of that fanfic I wrote quite a while ago, about Five’s past, and my theory why Five doesn’t talk all that much. This chapter is about Five’s first weeks after the outbreak, and their eventual arrival at Abel. It’s the final chapter of this fic.
WARNING: There are spoilers about things happening in Season 1, and some things happening in the beginning of Season 2.
Did you ever wonder why Five doesn't talk all that much?
"You are nearly five years old and you sit in the living room, telling a story to your teddy bear. Your father tells you to stop making so much noise, and be quiet or go to your room! You don't want to be alone, so you sit quietly and pet your teddy. Your teddy never finds out how the story ends.
You are five and a half years old and you just caught a frog at the nearby lake with you rest friend and her older sister. You are excited and want to tell your mother. She sighs. Not now. She says, tell me the story later. Mommy has a headache. You never tell her about the frog, you don't want her to hurt."
