It was quiet. Kailee was sitting cross legged on the edge of the
bed, staring at the door like it was going to provide some sort
of answer to her requests. Her lips felt a little dry, as if she had
sat in a room with the heat on for just a few minutes too long.
Kai was dressed in nothing more than a baggy black t-shirt that
rode up to show that she wasn't wearing anything underneath
it.
Her hands fussed, rubbing at the worn out seams of the shirt and
tracing the marks left by the icee she had spilled on herself a few
hours previous. There was a distant sound of footsteps outside the
fated door, followed by that door opening. Before her stood a tall,
skinny boy who both seemed burdened by the world and unable to
stay on Earth for more than a few seconds at the same time. Brilliant
blue eyes lingered on her, never wavering or judging. Some days, Kai
wondered what happened behind those eyes. Lips that seemed almost
reluctant curled into a smile, as if the sight of her was something new.
Kailee sat up a little, watching as the lanky mess of limbs
came towards her. Her hands reached up towards him, much
like a toddler wanting to be lifted.
