For the fandom ask meme: inuyasha!
Oooh ty! One of my first fandoms even. I’ve been meaning to do another rewatch actually.
The first character I first fell in love with: I think it was the boy himself actually! I vividly remember watching one of the earlier episodes in a hotel room while on vacation when I was like 13, and then going to a Kinokuniya bookstore to buy whatever volumes they had (which wasn’t many), and all the drive home I just flipped through it and crushed on the loud white-haired boy and his cute little ears and his neat outfit.
The character I never expected to love as much as I do now: Kagome, easily. I hated her when I was a kid, because internalized misogyny, but on my most recent rewatch like two years ago I realized that Kagome has literally never done anything wrong ever in her life? And like, lbr, if we were jerked from our lives like that, we’d be mouthy too. I grew to respect her a lot.
The character everyone else loves that I don’t: Miroku. He could have been an interesting character, and like a lot of his good qualities and his flaws could have been very well done. But instead we got this bullshit. I have a lot of feelings about this.
The character I love that everyone else hates: Hmm hard to say? The fandom by and large doesn’t seem to hate one character specifically? I guess Naraku? I think he’s interesting, but he’s not like my fave. I love his baboon fit I want one
The character I used to love but don’t any longer: Miroku. 😔
The character I would totally smooch: Kouga Kouga Kouga Kouga I love Kouga a lot and also Bankotsu is fine as hell
The character I’d want to be like: Listen, all of these women are queens, and they were all very formative for me.
The character I’d slap: This might come as a surprise, but if we’re talking a physical slap none of them. A proverbial slap though? Sango and Kagome need to be sat down and have a talking to.
A pairing that I love: I was most invested in the height of my crackship phase, and I carried that with me into my last rewatch, so I like odd pairings. Sango and Kouga is my absolute favorite, though I like Sango with Inuyasha and Sesshomaru as well. SessKagu is very good. InuKag is growing on me, but I like playing with other dynamics too. It sounds dumb, but I also like MirKag 🙃
A pairing that I despise: MirSan and SessRin, obviously for very different reasons. I’m also not super fond of SessKag, or Ayame and Kouga.
