NOKIA BARGAINING REPORT #23 - CONTRACT EXTENDED
August 1, 2018
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
The Company and your Bargaining Team met today. The Company passed additional data request responses, including clarification on the health care modeling. The Union passed additional data requests.
After lengthy discussions with the Company, and due to the voluminous outstanding data requests that include both bargaining and complex litigations, the parties agreed to a 60-day contract extension.
The new extension is set to expire on September 29, 2018.
In the meantime, both parties will work independently for the next few weeks in order to do our due diligence, analyze data, formulate proposals and focus on the various grievances and unfair labor practices pending. Both parties agreed to exchange data during this period to ensure efficient use of our time.
Tomorrow, the CWA Nokia Bargaining Team will host a call with all Nokia Local Presidents and Bargaining Unit Members only to update you on the current status of the bargaining process and to answer questions.
If you have questions you would like answered, please e-mail them as soon as possible to: [email protected]. Include your name, Local number and question(s). We will try to answer each one but time is limited. If we aren't able to answer your question(s) on the call, you will get a response back as quickly as possible afterwards.
Remember if you encounter quality issues with third-party contractors or are sent to clean up their mess please send the information to the bargaining team: [email protected].

NOKIA BARGAINING REPORT #1
NOKIA BARGAINING REPORT #1
June 7, 2018
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Nokia bargaining began on Tuesday, June 5th with Vice President Bolton giving opening remarks. It was clear from the company’s opening remarks, as well as from the only proposal that the company has passed, that the only goal the company has is to eliminate the bargaining unit.
Over the past three days we have met with the company. They have continued to lay out their plan for the “Field Forces of the Future” which utilizes third party contracted Installers and does not include the current represented workforce. The goal is to be union free by this time next year.
The Bargaining Team has made numerous requests for information relative to this latest company scheme. Tomorrow we will not be meeting with the company. We will be working on formulating our proposals. Bargaining will resume on Monday, June 11th.
Your Bargaining Team is in a fight to keep this bargaining unit working at Nokia now and in the future. We cannot sit back and let the company dissolve one of the oldest bargaining units in CWA. We owe it to our current members and to our retirees who deserve the retirement security they worked so hard for.
As Vice President Bolton said “The CWA has a strong, proud history of An Injury To One, Is An Injury To All. To test that resolve would be a grave mistake.”
Your Bargaining Team,
Mary Jo Reilly Luis Benitez Steve Amato
