happy birthday brian! 🎉
photographed by bent rej in hyde park, london, in 1966.
here are some pictures of keith during an interview in august 1974. the interview took place at the atlantic records offices in london and the pictures were taken by michael putland.
during that month, mick and keith did additional mixing for the band's next album, it's only rock and roll. the album came our two months later, in october.
london, 1964.
📸 terry o'neill.
as they spent the day touring london with photographer terry o’neill, the band fools around and poses for picture in different areas of the city.
terry o’neill recalls, ‘you have to remember, they were a young band and andrew had them working around the clock saying ‘yes’ to everything that was being offered. they were touring, being interviewed, recording, rehearsing seven days a week. so when we did photo shoots, i just took them around london.’
keith photographed in front of his home, redlands, his property in west sussex in june 1966. in search of a home outside london, he bought the farm in february 1966 for the paltry sum of 17,500 pounds. over fifty years later, it remains his favorite retreat. notoriously known for being the place of the famous february 1967 police bust, the building with a thatched roof dates from the 13th century but has much older foundations. the house is referenced in the domesday book (1086) and was briefly one of anne boleyn’s residences. © gered mankowitz.
happy thanksgiving to all our american friends and to those who celebrate! ✨
on the occasion of thanksgiving, let's take a look back at the rolling stones' iconic thanksgiving 1969 performance. that year, thanksgiving was on novembre 27, the first date of a series of three concerts the band played at the maddison square garden in new york city with ike and tina turner, bb king and terry reid. their iconic performance was latter released on the live album get yer ya-ya's out!
here we have an outtake of the infamous photoshoot for the album's cover, orchestrated by david bailey on the m6 motorway near birmingham in february 1970, with charlie equipped with guitars and bass drums hanging from the neck of a donkey. the composition was inspired by a line in bob dylan's song "visions of johanna".
