So I’ve got a new OC

His name is Catalog and he’s my favorite villainous bb rn. While he may not look like it at this very moment, this was what happened when I started to think ‘What if Ink was actually evil in a way that wasn’t just a dramatic change/alteration to his personality as a whole?’

So I started with a backstory idea first. This idea that instead of shattering his own soul, Ink lashed out and attacked the other sketches in his empty and hollow world. He gained no LV or EXP, for the world was too unfinished for even the basic game mechanics of the original UnderTale. Once the world was empty, however, Ink was unaware of how much time had passes. Unaware if time even passes at all. He grew haunted by what he’d done. He kept seeing shadows and distant images of the sketches he’d erased, and sobbed to himself as he cried out desperately for escape.

And one day he did. Time had passed for so long that Nightmare himself had sensed Ink’s copious amounts of negativity, and appeared in his empty, unfinished realm. After taking in the lost little sketch, Ink finds himself overwhelmed with joy at all the colors of Nightmare’s domain. Albeit, most of them are dark, but he finds it so much better than the everlasting white of his dead world. But when he’s sent out on his first mission, ordered to kill and torture the inhabitants.. he finds he can’t. He’s so invested in the world. In its colors, in its characters. Everything is so wonderful, and he can’t help but turn against Nightmare, threatening him to stop. Ink lashes out at any present gang members, forcing them to retreat. Meanwhile, Ink comes to the slow realization that world travelers and outcodes are *dangerous.* They don’t belong anywhere, they don’t fit into the system, and so they take out their feelings on the innocent, beautiful worlds.

And Ink simply can’t have that.

Now he roams the multiverse with his newfound abilities, using his powers to turn any wandering troublemakers into pieces of paper to file away for later. He believes that if everyone just stayed in their places, then the multiverse would be better off as a whole. If multiversal travel was stopped altogether, then everyone would be safe and happy.

So I figure some of you might be wondering why, in my original post of Log!Ink.. did he have the tag ‘log and fade’?? Well, this is why!! Faded!Error, aka Fade!

Rather than panicking and destroying the entire GhostTale timeline Error first ended up in after escaping the Anti-Void, he kind of.. dies. Accidentally, for the most part. He clawed at his soul until it shattered, leaving his spirit to wander the AU. Of course, he freaked out at first, but with enough time, Toriel and Sans eventually took care of him. They’re sort of like his parental figures/good friends. Fade cares about this world very much. But only this one.

And since he’s a dead, wandering spirit, that means he’s got some interesting new ghost powers!! They’re still a WIP, so don’t hesitate to feed me ideas or tell me if one of these is a bad idea lmao. I got this idea that maybe his strings would turn into spooky ghost ectoplasm, with the consistency of slime. Like in ghost movies such as ghostbusters where they leave large trails of slime wherever they go!! Except Fade can use them to capture people and hold them still. Like… well, a giant slime. However, if he gets ahold of a person’s soul with this slime, they will immediately begin to suffocate. If he holds them for too long, they’ll end up either straight up dying or turning into ghosts, too! Strangely enough, the slime also makes for an excellent preservative.. it keeps body parts, organs, and food perfectly well without rotting for months on end.

Like other ghosts, he can also pass through walls and float, though he’s not very good at controlling these parts. If he begins to crash or break down, then he will likely phase through walls on accident, including floating straight into the ground!! He finds it comforting sometimes, though. Being away from the people, buried six feet below.. it gives him a nice break before he returns above ground to apologize to Toriel for freaking out.

I’ve also considered giving him a sort-of banshee-inspired shriek/wail? Where when he starts yelling or screams, he lets out a painful wail that can shatter eardrums if he’s too close to someone. Though that idea is still pretty rough.

I also took some inspiration from Swap!Napstablook (Napstaton) for his design, what with the headphones and all. Most of his design is simply inspired by ‘lo-fi beats’, if that makes sense. Fade is a lot more anxious around people than regular Error is. Whereas Error is confident, Fade is.. not so much. He much rather would stay home with Tori, eat dead snail pie, and listen to music together.

This world has become Fade’s home. Even if he’s not originally from it, he will do ANYTHING to stay there and protect his loved ones. Even if some paper-obsessed weirdo says he doesn’t belong.
