“Hey there, Hastings,” Jay let out a low whistle as his eyes took the time to soak her in. His own fingers fidgeting slightly with his tie as he tried to adjust it into place. He couldn’t remember the last time he had gotten dressed up like this to go on a date. Maybe you could count Lorelai’s birthday or maybe it was back in high school when he was invited to go to prom? Or maybe the day him and Mia went to meet his parents, fear clinging to his brows, as they told them about how he had knocked her up with what would eventually be Zoya. But, whenever the last time was, it had hardly been an occasion he had looked forward to, unlike this.
Now, he couldn’t seem to shake his smile as he lifted up the bouquet of flowers in hand for her to take in. “I know we kept saying that when things calmed down, I’d take you out for real. But, it’s starting to look like things may never calm down for us, so what do you say, Lo? You want to let me take you out for real tonight?”
