He’s got an idea. It’s not anything crazy, but the good thing is it’s fast and doesn’t take him an ounce of bravery because it’s that easy. It’s just callused hands gripping the sides of her face. Fingers brushing away those crazy red curls and it doesn’t mean anything. When he leans in, closing in the distance , their noses nearly touch. And then, lips. It doesn’t happen for more than half a second, because he somehow knows it’s enough to have her stunned, drop the rope she’s been holding. There are no miracles in the apocalypse, so here’s to trying to do the next best thing.
