Sketch Challenge #7 - Pippi Longstocking

The design was largely inspired by Hayao Miyazaki’s version back in the 70′s when he was planning to adapt the character to feature film. Although the plans were scrapped, there is a lot of beautiful concept art available online so you could see what could have been. Anyway, this was one of my favorite challenges so far. Her being a little adventurous kid, it opened up to so many possible poses and expressions that I could sketch out. In addition, I was able to play with her design a lot to see what works and what doesn’t
