I stay my hand

for now at least

if only to merely

keep the peace

but when time comes

as it surely does

what was my life as deity?

I got “Game Over” by Falling in Reverse (I’ll censor the swears)

My life is like a video game

Trying hard to beat the stage

All while I am still collecting coins

Trying hard to save the girl

Obstacles, I'm jumping hurdles

I'm growing up to be a big boy

I battle with the evil ways

I travel far, and try and save

Sorry but your princess isn't here

I take a rest, I push the pause

Level up, and move along

In hopes that the next stage I will clear

(I f***ing passed a**hole!)

I'm just trying to keep from dying

It's just a game that we play

And for heaven's sakes

Looking for a better way to play it!

The metaphor in this song was your mantra;the gift of life was a complex game and age was just a marker of experience. You were never pleased with the monotony of living and wanted to change it up a bit. Despite what you forced yourself to believe, you weren’t perfect. You made mistakes, and didn’t “pass the stages” on the first run. Everyone tried to bring you back to reality and told you that you couldn’t change something that was already on progress. But who were they to try to bring you down in your darkest hours?
