I've seen a lot of references to how Hunter Y/N will one day die and leave Eclipse aside, but what about the vampire variant? They will live for a long time, at least until someone manages to kill them, lots of heartbreak potential there, on the other hand, what about Vanessa? Will she die knowing that she could never kill the cryptid that stole her friend's body? Maybe Y/N will give them one last visit to calm her down? Could Vanessa get used to that new Y/N after a long time?

Vampire!Y/N stays alive. They and Eclipse get spared that pain in this AU, but, that means for Y/N that they lose everyone they've ever known and loved, including Vanessa. The extra kicker is that Vanessa loathes that her friend has died and risen once more in an undead fashion. Vanessa hunts and hunts and hunts but she doesn't ever get her quarry, to release her friend from this horrid purgatory, and one day, she grows too tired and too old and gives up.

One day, Vanessa receives a quiet visitor late into the night—she never did sleep well, not after everything. The demonic cryptid responsible for it all lurks outside. It's only her and her friend who still has the same young face they had before vampirism took their body and robbed it of its peace. Blood-red eyes look so sad. Vanessa looks back coldly, full of venom even in her old age.

"I couldn't kill you. So you've come to kill me."

"Nessie. No."

"Then leave.'

"I just wanted to—"

"I said get out."

"..."

"..."

"Please... I just wanted to thank you for being my friend before. I miss you. I don't want to miss you more when—"

"When I die and you keep drinking blood?"

"Yes."

"You don't miss me. You're not them. Stop tormenting me, vampire, and go."

They leave. Vanessa, old and wrinkled with all her hair silver upon her head, cries into her hands long after the vampire departs.

She misses her friend, too.

There is something that strikes me, and that is how careful Sun and Moon are about leaving the hunter with their weapons, are they afraid that the hunter will hurt them? I think it's clear that they are very capable of beating a lone hunter, or are they just afraid of confrontation?

They're afraid of confrontation. They don't want to have to fight or prevent Y/N from fighting them, but they also know that Y/N is a capable cryptid hunter, and is also very much out of sorts at the moment and could act unpredictably. They even admit as much when they say "We’re not certain you’re quite comfortable with us yet.”

That white sand beach, with Y/N at the edge of the sea of stars ... I can't stop thinking about it, the landscape you described is beautiful. I was thinking of doing a painting of it, so I have to ask, if Y/N had looked back, would they have seen a desert? Or is that beach more like a small island, so looking back, would there be more sea? On that beach there are some kind of plants, algae or shells?

OH! If Y/N had looked back, it would have appeared like a wall of white mist, very hazy and solid. The white-sand shore spans a very long distance, disappearing into the horizon on either end. The beach is only sand with no plants or seashells or anything else decorating it.

In my mind Sun and Moon are like those tall, thin men peering out of the woods with glowing eyes, but with twice as many eyes and arms because they are a 2-for-1 offer. I know they don't look like that but I really wanted to make this meme. I want to kiss the cryptids that loom menacingly in those woods so bad and I'm not going to hide it.

Sometimes when they are no one but the hunter and Sun/Moon there are cold drafts or the hunter sees sharp-toothed smiles for a few moments. Is that because the boys accidentally fail from time to time to maintain their more harmless form? Or does he do it because the hunter frustrates him and it is a reflex to try to intimidate him? Maybe they just get so exasperated with the hunter that they forget to keep the cryptid signals to a minimum?

It's a slip-up on the boys' end but it's often fueled by frustration or simply that they're trying to get their point across and end up being a bit more intense than they intended!

I love Eclipse, but he really is a bit complicated. Now that I've finished the design I have to struggle with the colors because he will have his bioluminescence on. Hold this for now

Now my question is, do Moon and Sun really take turns according to each other's abilities during their peak hours? (I don't know why I think if Moon went out during the day he would probably be blind as well as Sun at night) Or do they really have that 12 hr deal each so they don't fight (measuring it by daylight)? They can switch places whenever they want even if it's annoying not to be at their proper time? In the middle of lunch I was thinking that they don't have any protocol that makes them change according to the light of the place because they are not really robots, but there could be something similar being that they are demons and I don't understand how it works to share a body in a way that both are happy.

This will come up later in the fic, but, there is a reason Sun is out during daylight and Moon stays in the dark. They share their vessel because they always have. That's existence for them.
