So I just figured something out. The "Hunter's Dream" is just that. It doesn't exist. The whole area is like a sort of meditation. How you upgrade and recieve new items is beyond me, I believe since you carry around the tools, you actually do it. How you gain new stuff... Well it's an RPG. Blah.
Point is, the Lamps dont teleport you. You meditate while still at the lamp. You never leave. It is perfect and pretty but your ass is sitting in the same area you left. You upgrade items and level up while you imagine you're in this elaborate nice area, staving off your transformation.
That's why when you find it in the game it's wrecked and broken. You knew it existed. You knew what it was like. You were there before. But you meditate and everything is just fine.
This is also why the game world is connected. You don't teleport. You're travelling from one area to the next as you choose.
Sorry if this is all figured out, but it's my first time through and piecing all this together by myself is awesome.
