So, I have lost my job.

It was my dream job, really. Great people, great stuff to do, I have learnt many new things.

I worked remotely, which was very important as I am chronically ill and often have to stay in bed.

I wanted to write since I was a kid so I was very happy to be hired by a big company as a content writer. I did great.

But on Friday the Boss decided the company has to do some budget cuts and that the marketing department has to fire almost half of its employees. I was one of them. We were chosen randomly.

It sucks, you know, to lose your dream job you were fantastic at just because budget cuts and being chosen randomly. I did nothing wrong, but then on 31th of March they just let me know April will be my last month there.

I am angry, I am sad, I don't know how I feel about it all. I probably won't be active here much.

Don't worry about the animals.  They've almost all found homes :-)

As to the 'why' of it, there are several reasons. Mainly the store owner is retiring.  But the landlord is also making major changes to our building, such as giving a third of our floorspace to the gym next door; he's also jacking up our rent (doubling it, I think).  And to top it off, our lease is up at year's end.  A perfect storm of deciding factors.

No, I don't have anything lined up at present.  Just going to relax for a little while.  I've got a bit of money saved.  After seven years of constant work - and more than several irate and abusive customers (and management!), I think it's time for a break.

I'm probably the calmest person at work right now.  It may or may not really hit me soon (and I may have my emotional FREAK OUT), but for now, I'm cool.

Blogger -v- Tumble -v- Wordpress

I just wrote an entire article and was about to start editing when somehow my mouse was on the window tab. I'm on a macbook pro and so the touch pad closed my composition page. Obvi my palm must have touched it / brushed it but I am so gutted. I lost all my work.

I use to write on blogger and loved that it auto saved. Severely miss that function right now. I didn't save or copy my article anywhere. URGH. 

Hmmm, wordpress - I may be coming for you.

That moment when you lose your whole assingment and somebody tells you that you should have backed up.

I've meant to be updating more. I haven't been able to write in the past few days because the music side took over. By that I mean my music classes are consuming my life at the moment.

But I'm posting because I'd like to express how sad I am that I lost my flash drive. It was so tiny and so cute. The part you stick in the computer would swivel in and out and when it was shut, all you'd see is the green part. Everyone I showed it to said "I wouldn't get that flash drive because I'm sure I would lose it."

I've lost it before. I eventually found it again, in one of my bags. But this time it's lost for real because I left it at the computer lab and when I went back, it wasn't there. 

And this time it's a problem because it has what I've mainly been working on it.

I can't believe I didn't back up. >_< Never again.

I got a replacement the other day. They don't sell the adorable green swivel ones at Best Buy anymore. The one I got is also adorable and tiny and purple. But it's not the same.

It's not the same.

RIP, adorable flash drive.

Now I've got to get to work getting back all of the shit I lost.
