I seem to have left my purse at a restaurant last night. It opens in two hours, so I drew a Retsuko to kill time. If I get it back, I'll draw Haida. Resasuke if they don't have it. Because I'm a space cadet and that's what I deserve.

The Lost Purse
A short story
The wheels of that old vehicle had started to weep. It was going through that potholes way too hard. I was still hanging on a strap among people. I was keep moving along with the turning of the bus. The man behind me fell asleep and fell on my shoulder. I knocked him out, feeling as if he hadn't bathed for two days. He continued to sleep, without feeling overwhelmed. The conductor came rushing through the crowd and hit my shoulder and said, 'Eh, take the ticket?'.
I put hand in my pants pocket with a headband that said no. A sweat dripped down my forehead. The pocket of that cotton pant is empty. I searched for all the pockets with the addiction. I started to sweat more. I turned back as if something was enlightening. That naughty man is still asleep. I held onto his collar. 'Hey, where's my wallet?' I screamed.
* * * * * *
His voice was screaming at the pressure of the police, and the sound of it was all over the place. I sat impatient on a bench attached to the wall. After a while the S.I called me in. He was left with a leather purse on the table, and he asked, 'Is this yours?, it is from him'
I said yes. Within a short time, its edges had begun corrosion.
'Well, you can go.' He said. I turned once in between walking out from the S.I's room. Only a buried moan could be heard from inside the cell.
Going to the bus stop, I took that purse out of my pants. I rubbed through its smooth exterior. When I opened it, the column in front of it had a picture of a girl and her mother. The inner pockets were nothing more than a torn ten rupee note. The fact that this was not my wallet passed through my body like a tremble.
I hurried back to the police station. Occasionally walking became a race.
I went straight to the cell. He was sitting there in a corner. A biryani in front is open. He grabbed a piece of meat from it and pressed it into the bruised gums greedily. The cheeks were all red with swelling. He raised his head and looked at me with a smile. While eating, he was trying to talk, 'I am .. Sir, eating this for the first time. My daughter loves it so much. But where would I get money to buy it? ' He continued to feed. I extended that purse to him. I had put a hundred rupees inside it to appease him. He stretched out his hand and bought it. He opened it and looked at the photo. 'My daughter and my wife, ' he said. ' What to do? They don't want me! I'm an incompetent, right? '.
I looked at him with a sympathy. He opened his wallet. And was shocked to see a 100 rupee note. He took it and stretched it towards me. He said, 'Sir this is not mine, sir. Is it yours?'
“Detroit - James Hutchinson, master of the launch Aenone, confiscated by the Department of Justice when the police found it loaded with liquor off the foot of Connors avenue, is seeking a diver to locate a purse containing $768, which Hutchinson says he lost when he dived overboard from the launch to escape the officers. - from the Leelanau Enterprise, July 24, 1919. The Shipwreck
I’m with Vega and Jalousie on an old, abandoned ship, gathering my most important belongings. There is an epic storm going on outside - I can feel the boat rocking, the water crashing in from outside the boat and I can hear the thunder roaring. I’m not exactly sure why we are here or how we got here - but my impression is that we had been traveling on this ship only moments before it began to sink. This is strange though, considering the condition of the ship- it looks like it had been abandoned for years.
The most important item for me to find is my purse, which I am grabbing onto .... or so I believe. I am beginning to doubt that I am holding the right thing, but there is no time. I am running out of the boat to shore just behind Vega and Jalousie, half trying to keep up and half worrying about my potentially forgotten purse.
We have reached the beach, where I am looking at the item in my hands ... I can’t recall what it is, but it is not my purse. I panic - I have to go back!
Vega screams from just a bit ahead of me, atop the sand dune. I can’t recall his exact words, but he knows what I’m thinking - his expression partly commanding and partly begging that I not go back.
I briefly contemplate as I think about how, while I am obsessed with getting my purse back, that I know Vega is right. Suddenly, Jalousie is interfering while shouting down at me, harshly, in agreement with Vega. Her expression is vivid and through it, I feel her judgement intensely. I am hit with a sudden rush of anger; the next thing I know, I am walking back toward the shore just to spite her.
Analysis
Storms and impending storms, which can be reflective of an overwhelming struggle in waking life, are common in my dream settings. While this symbolism could certainly apply given my anxiety over school starting back up, a new role at work, and drama going on with my family, it is also possible that my recent ruminations over storms as common dream themes are having an effect. Considering the latter and the feelings of anxiety experienced within this dream, I’d say it was likely a mix of both.
I am also generally fascinated with storms, even finding their occurrence to be comforting in real life. I think that may be why I can hear the sound of thunder so vividly when, typically, I am less able to recall specific sounds in dreams, aside from human voices.
Beaches have also been a dream common setting for me lately. Last year, I had vacationed to a beach with Vega and family. The experiences left a pretty huge impression on me, some elements of which were anxiety-based and depression-inducing. I believe this may be part of why my mind now seems to associate beaches with storms, i.e. emotional struggle, in dreams.
Vega worries for my safety, probably to a borderline unhealthy extent. My feelings are usually mixed about it. While at times his worry annoys me, it also reminds me of how much I mean to him, which is comforting. It is always meaningful to some degree, but more strongly so on the darker days, where I am feeling useless to literally everyone else.
Even when I am annoyed at Vega for worrying “too much”, I am always, at least on some level, understanding and appreciative. I am also perfectly aware that I would be the same toward him if the tables were turned. I tend to have only annoyance with little to no appreciation in similar situations toward anyone who is NOT Vega, however. This is mainly due to my default assumption and fear that, to THEM, I will come across as weak and helpless.
Based on my appearance, mannerisms, and fierce reluctance to let certain core aspects of my personality shine through to just anyone, it seems as though I am automatically perceived as weak and fragile by the vast majority. Only those willing to look deeper than the surface can begin to see glimpses of the person I naturally hide. Of the few who have known me truly, Vega is the most valued and has been one of the most influential. When Vega worries, it is not because he lacks faith in my abilities. It is because the fear of losing me becomes overwhelming in those moments. This makes all the difference in the world to me.
In real life, I am not convinced that Jalousie sees me truly, but she IS one of the few females I have known who is seemingly willing to try. On better days, I simply appreciate that and go with it. In the darker moments however, I obsessively question her sincerity. This same fear emerges in the dream when I perceive her sudden agreement with Vega to be shallow, and nothing more than a way to look down on me from that sand dune; standing right next to the only one I feel I can count on, no less. Somehow, it felt like betrayal.
To end on a lighter note .... like storms and beaches, it is also rather common for me to lose my purse within a dream. This is probably due to a frequent waking fear that I have left my purse behind. (Hey, I keep my soul in that thing!) Given how common a theme it is both in waking and dream life, it wouldn’t likely work well as a lucidity trigger. However, one missed opportunity of note would be my shallow questioning of the ship’s appearance.
I really need to work on questioning more deeply the shady aspects of my dream environments. In some dreams, I come to almost gaining lucidity at similar points of questioning, but lose faith at the last moment. In this dream, I didn’t even see or care deeply enough to try.
Anyone in Seattle or around the mt. Baker neighborhood lose a bag or got their bag stolen? One was dropped by the girls house, and the car drove away. It's totally stolen... There's no wallet or ID in it, but there's definitely some personal stuff..It'd be nice to get it back to the person it belongs too. I'm sorry your shit got stolen though. This is a long shot. Message me if you might think it might be yours or someone you know...

Social Security Salmon Money
One man tried to give his entire social security check to the fish. But they didn’t want it.
While snorkeling on a somewhat remote river I came upon an envelope with over three hundred stuffed in it lying on the bottom rocks. I spent two hours continuing down the river thinking of all the things I could do with it. I was very poor at the time. When I reached the take out section I walked by an elderly couple and she was giving him #*$& about losing their social security money while he was fishing upstream. The look on their faces was priceless when I walked over and tossed the wad on his fishing tackle box. I refused a reward but was rewarded with some good new friends. Another time, while managing a used clothing store, someone left a billfold on top of a rack of clothes. Over five thousand was in the billfold. Several hours later a woman came in and said she had lost her money. She described the billfold and I returned a minute later and handed her the billfold. She glared at me and said…..”it BETTER ALL be there”. I stood there while she counted it and walked off without even so much as a thank you. I sleep well at night……..I doubt she does.
Lost and Found In Chicago
Losing money on the subway usually means it is gone forever.
My wallet fell out of my pants on the subway in Chicago. Right after I got out of the Subway I realized it was missing. I was so embarrassed because I was with my boss and we were on our way to a meeting. I decided to call American Express to cancel my card and unbelievably a person had found my wallet (with over 1000 in cash) and called the credit card company to report that they had it. AMEX then put me on hold and contacted the person who found it. As it turns out she got off on the very next stop and was headed to get in her car. She asked where I was at. By this time we were headed to Pizzeria Uno near Michigan Ave. She pulled up three minutes later. Handed me my wallet and refused to take any money. What are the odds of this happening in Chicago?
Life Savings Lost
When your life savings can fit on top of an ice cream display.
Early in life, I lost my life savings one time by leaving it on a ice cream case at a convenience store while checking out. Retraced my steps the next day and went back to that gas station and they said they had it. Had to wait for one of the workers to come in for their shift but they gave it back to me. I almost cried. I tried to give them $100 but they wouldn’t take it. It was a very humbling experience. Plus, had I not found it, my wife would have killed me!
Walmart’s Good Samaritan
Women left her purse in a cart at Walmart.
My wife lost her purse while on leave from the Army. She hadn’t been home in 6 months and she was so happy to see our daughter and take her shopping, that she just left her purse in the shopping cart and drove off! While she standing in front of me crying, we get a call from Walmart. They found her purse and asked she come to the store and pick it up. When she checked her purse, she still had her $80, new iPhone and all her credit cards inside. Someone found it and turned it in, untouched.
Once a Mom Always a Mom
Not realizing I dropped my wallet with over $200 in cash in it at a shopping center back in the 1988. I had been at work and received a call from the police. Not knowing I had lost it the first thing I thought was something happened to my Dad who was sickly at the time. The policeman asked if I lost my wallet . Frantically I checked and realized I had. He explained an elderly couple had found it and the cop was at their house a few miles away. He had called my job because he found a pay check receipt with my companies name on it. I went to pick it up and offered to give the couple a reward, They wouldn’t take it, but the women commenced to chew me out for being so careless with my wallet. The cop stood their with a smile on his face. After thanking them while walking out with the cop, he said how lucky I was that people like them had found it. Nice to know there were good honest people around and hopefully there is still today.
Getting Away with Theft
Many years ago in Oakland, CA an armored truck carrying over a million dollars was in an accident, flipped over and with the rear door wide open, locals made off with all the cash. They didn’t bother to help the injured driver and guard. Days and then weeks went by and hardly any money was returned even after threats (false) of video surveillance, appeals to community leaders, etc. After about two weeks a guy showed up with $80k in cash at a local Mercedes dealer and tried to buy a new Mercedes. The salesman became suspicious – the guy didn’t look like he ought to have $80,000 in cash. The police came and hauled him off to jail when they discovered he lived only a block from the armored truck accident. He claimed he’d been saving the money under his mattress for years and that he didn’t steal anything. With no evidence, the police had to let him go. On the way out, the guy asked the police if they would give him a ride back to the Mercedes dealer.
