The introductions for the previous decade by many musicians didn't take much consideration into this fact. I know, isn't this always the way?I mean, our perceptions of eras usually form with a hinsidght, so New Order releasing Lost Sirens as their 10's entree does make some sense – they've been through so many changes before they had to clean the house to move on. Thus, the LP remains a farewell to Peter Hook, since the disc was made from the abandoned pieces for Waiting For The Siren's Call. The band fell apart between the latter and Lost Sirens, but they eventually decided to return. However, I assume the rest of the group wished to give the fans one last glimpse of the old lineup, because that might be the sole legitimate reason for the disc.
New Video - New Order
Restless Singularity Plastic Tutti Frutti (featuring Elly Jackson) People On The High Line (featuring Elly Jackson) Stray Dog (featuring Iggy Pop) Academic Nothing But A Fool Unlearn This Hatred The Game Superheated (featuring Brandon Flowers)
New Order debuts new song “Plastic” during North American tour opener
New Order have remained dormant since their 2005 studio album Waiting For The Sirens’ Call (considering 2013′s Lost Sirens was simply the fat trimmings from their Sirens’ sessions). Yet – aside from their founding bassist Peter Hook’s dissolution back in 2007 – New Order has moved forward to unveil new, original material. “Singularity” was the first bit to premier, happening in March at the 2014 Lollapalooza Chile and performed later again in Brazil. Hook’s exodus appeared to have little affect upon the post-punk group with New Order (seemingly) back in full swing.
Since then, nothing more has arrived from New Order’s barracks – until just recently. Amidst their North American tour opener in Chicago, halfway through the setlist, the English group trotted out another new single, this one titled “Plastic”. With a strong electronic core, “Plastic” highlights a rhythmic synth and guitar melody that entrances the mind so much as their light show pairing. It’s a hypnotic release, one that excitingly could prove New Order to be pushing in a somewhat new direction.
