So I actually have this AU where Mama Kitagawa survives to the events of the game. (I know the game implies that even if Madarame didn't kill her she wouldn't have been long for the world anyway but hush) Basically when she has the seizure, Yusuke was the one to find her not Madarame and while Madarame would've happily let her die... he's not dumb enough to do it in front of a witness, even if they are a three year old kid. 1/?

I think the most significant thing about this AU is that Yusuke’s now working to protect his mother instead just himself, and I feel like Yusuke is the type of character who might be more reckless gambling with his own life than someone elses.
What that means is the Phantom Thieves might have a harder time convincing Yusuke to join them. Like, this Yusuke who’s got to be good enough at art to justify Madarame taking in both of them and knows he’s got no way to provide for his mother financially if they were on their own isn’t going to just move into the dorm when all is said and done. And I wouldn’t be surprised if he was more aware of how truly vile Madarame was beauce of the way Madarame treats Mamagawa so he’s not spurred into action by seeing Shadow Madarame necessarily.
I can imagine even after getting the whole Metaverse spiel, Yusuke would just point out they have nowhere else to go and decide he has to go back and beg Madarame’s forgiveness so his mother isn’t sleeping on the street.
It kind of adds another layer of morality to a change of heart becuase if Madarame gets arrested, Yusuke can’t bring his mom to the dorm, so the PT are kind of screwing both of them over unless they can arrange something.
Maybe the PT have to get Mama Sakamoto or Sojiro agree to take in Yusuke and his mom, thus convincing Yusuke to join them.
