“One Mind, One Body & One Soul: Twin brothers burdened with nobility, expectations and a tragic fate.” - Whether it’s the tale of Prince Lorian & Prince Lothric from Miyazaki Hidetaka’s “Dark Souls III”, King Edward V & Richard of Shrewsbury, 1st Duke of York, or the real life tale of Edward V & Richard, which the latter tales were heavily inspired by, these three tales have one common outcome for the twin brothers, a terrible tragedy they NEVER deserved.... 😔💔 It was hard enough for each pair of the twin brothers to be burdened with enormous responsibilities/duties as rulers to their kingdoms, which they were expected to uphold regardless of how young they were, but for them to suffer a fate worse than death, before the lights in their eyes vanished forever, nothing could’ve been more terrible. That was the curse of their births, their upbringings, and the expectations they were burdened with. The elder brother was hardened, forthright, and determined, while the younger brother was frail, scared, and VERY dependent of his elder brother, as well as very clingy towards him, for he wasn’t just his only family, friend, and companion, the only one he could trust in a kingdom where none could be trusted, but they were of one mind, body, and soul. The siblings had been VERY close, from the day they were born until the day they faced a bitter end. That in many ways was the beauty of their bond, the twin brothers dying in each other’s arms, “the tragedy of tragedies” one could say.
