𝗒𝗈𝗎    𝗋𝖾𝖺𝗅𝗅𝗒    𝗌𝖾𝖾    𝗉𝗋𝗂𝗇𝖼𝖾𝗌𝗌𝖾𝗌    𝗇𝗈𝗐    𝖺    𝖽𝖺𝗒𝗌.    it    is    not    a    title    that    a    lot    of    women    seem    to    wear,    and    that    want    to    associate    with    you    either.    you    were    quite    alright    with    the    fact,    as    they    usually    prissy,    and    think    too    highly    of    themselves.    but    from    what    you    know...    she    is    different.    she    is    different,    and    you    are    too    sure    where    to    start    with    that.    maybe    it’s    the    fact    that    you    are    no    longer    talking    to    your    best    friend,    that    you    are    willing    to    venture    out.    to...    get    out    there    with    the    knowledge    that    she    is    different.    that    she    is    everything    but    what    you    think    of    princesses.    you    edge    closer,    a    smile    trying    to    be    inviting.    trying    to    make    a    friend    perhaps,    ❝    dreadful    music    that    they    are    playing    today,    is    it    not?    ❞

She lurks, more than she doesn’t, even in forests as old as this one. They embrace her in a way they ought not- she is no fey, but older, older, and breathing still of ash from wars long buried. 

Still- she is not alone, in places like these, and those silver eyes flick aside, unerring and aglow. 

“You’re certainly unexpected. Not a ghost, nor quite-” her head cocks to one side- listening. 

“Nor quite,” she settles on, leaving it there. “Hello, hello, hello.”

An   interesting   YET   FOOLISH   case   of   someone   who   had   experienced   so   much   pain   only   to   gain   nothing   but   hurt   in   return.      Something   Larxene   could   not   understand.      And   while   she   found   it   to   be   a   little   funny,      she   also   could   not   deny   the   amount   of   resolve   a   heart   must   have   to   STAY   KIND   in   such   trying   circumstances.      “      Don’t   you   ever   get   TIRED   of   giving   so   much   ???      Why   not   ask   for   something   for   a   change   ???      ”

                  the wood is DARK and DEEP  ;  trees tower over her and the sound of their limbs rustling could perhaps be taken as frightening.   she cannot find it in herself to be afraid of the wood,  though,  or most of what lies within      . . .    sooner has the thought made itself known does she find herself spotting SOMETHING through the trees. something looming. still - it seems better than NOTHING ; as she draws closer and discovers          it’s a castle.

     the comment is made between lips that hide a smirk and sips of far too expensive wine, eyes focused entirely on the orlesians in question. they’re too enraptured in playing the 𝐆𝐀𝐌𝐄 to pay any attention to her musings. 

          ❝their titles are nothing more than purchases, enough money thrown in the empress’ direction and she can - and 𝐇𝐀𝐒 - granted almost any honorific. and yet they look down on those who don’t spend their fortunes in such frivolous fashions.❞

                       he   did   not   have   time   to   question,   nor   argue.   he   let   his   hand   slip   into   hers,   and   is   pulled   away   at   great   speed   through   the   trees.   he   takes   glances   behind   him   ;   to   ensure   the   two   had   not   been   caught,   or   followed.   eventually,   he   came   to   an   abrupt   halt   and   pulled   her   into   a   natural   carved   out   section   of   a   small   hill.   an   ideal   hiding   spot.

 ❛   th   —   thank   you.   ❜   he’s   words   come   out   breathless.   he   pulls   back   his   hand   and   rests   it   on   his   chest   as   he   tries   to   catch   his   breath.    another   quick   glance   behind   him   then   ahead,   just   over   her   shoulder   —   making   sure   it   was   only   the   two   of   them   and   no   others.   then   he   asks.   ❛   who   are   you?   ❜

at times there were great lengths  of silence that befell that stony palace, and all the halls were quiet when the moon was at her highest.  it was during those hours that the count would find the greatest source of joy to be in conversing with her       in silent, longing looks that filled his already exquisitely blue eyes with pooling, silver cataracts.  at times he had no want to blink, for the dark creature in all his cleverness and experience,  possessed the fear that the moon, too, would hide from him behind the shadow of the clouds.  

but on this night, the little maid was out of her chambers and the moon was too new in her rebirth to grace with conversation.  still had she not been permitted her to wander about unchecked, for there were many doors that she might have tried that would have been jammed against the frame and locked tight from the other side.  one such room had been opened only very recently, and subsequently tidied by the sallow, gray hands of the castle’s very master.  these tasks he did strictly during the evening hours when the sun had long since bowed behind the silhouette of firs that lined the mountain’s foot.   it seemed every night to be less a castle and more a prison of his own making.  and still had he refused to answer to reason for his keeping such ungodly, night-bird hours.   

                the vampire was numb to all, and had sought only to watch her.   to revel again in the languid stillness with which the mortal girl had moved.

❛❛    to elevate the soul,  poetry is necessary.    ❜❜      the voice was deceptively soft,  but striking,  and it filled the hollow library with a tense and stormy song.   a pair of distant moonstones stuck out against the candleless backdrop of countless dusty shelves, reading snow’s face for any sign of fright.  with no matches, he could not help that it was dark;  for on that night there had been a new moon    and so though the curtainless, diamond panes came no light to warm them.      ❛❛     i am glad that you found your way here.  for many years these books have been my companions and have given me much pleasure to read.    ❜❜
