my turn to be there for you

“Shit, shit, shit,” Nora hissed out of aggravation as she heard the all too familiar horn of the ferry. It was due to arrive for another half an hour -- or so the aloof blonde believed. She gave a rushed and panicked smile to the florist that was conveniently selling close to the dock. Pivoting in her well worn canvas shoes, she dug her big toes down and pushed off into a sprint. Poppy! Her mind sung out to her best friend as she bound around the corner. Even being stationed closer to the dock than usual, her stop at the flower cart cost her precious time. By the time she could see the dock, Nora could make out the slightly hunched figure of her soul mate. Her heart fractured as she imagined what Poppy had been through in the last few days. “Poppy!” Nora’s voice rang in a high note as she bound to reunite with the one person that had been there for her. Through thick and thin. It was always Poppy.
