Inspiring contemporary artists recreating Disney
Today my middle school daughter stayed home to work with mom for “Job Shadow Day”. In honor of the intention for the day we worked and talked about art. Since I am an art major I wanted to share some deeper insight with her about art in general, as I appreciate art in all forms. I decided to allow her to take over my Tumblr blog for the day to share some thoughts on artists that she likes and why. I hope you all enjoy reading her thoughts.

In this example of artwork we see the silhouette of the Disney princess Belle on the music from the story. Then within the silhouette we see an actual image from the story which helps play a role in making the art stronger. I feel like the many pieces tell a better story.

In this piece of art we see a recreation of one of the most classic scenes from the movie Sleeping Beauty. I personally love how the artist draws Aurora laying asleep with her crown and all because it mirrors the old look, but also brings a new look to the fairytale classic.

In this art piece we see a Maleficent that is both classic fairytale villain, but with a new twist. I love how Limzy uses flower petals and nature to make costumes in her art. In this way her artwork becomes real.
What about what you see creates beauty to you?

Friday, I'm in Love | Instagram Art by Limzy.
I am proud to introduce another fellow Malaysian, Lim Zhi Wei, also known as Limzy, who is a super crazy-talented artist and individual. Previously a full-time art teacher, she started the #instaartmovement, believing that art isn't meant only for the walls of high-end galleries, but for the ordinary and everyday appreciation as well, documented in the simplest of avenues - Instagram! Using social media, in particular, her Instagram account lovelimzy, Zhi Wei 'curated' a small gallery for her artwork that can be enjoyed by a worldwide audience of 50,000+ followers.
Currently Singapore-based, Limzy is also a mural artist, photographer's assistant, and a crafter at heart. She also advocates social causes and her goal is to put a smile on your face. I daresay she does just exactly that. Her most important tools are a white piece of paper and natural lighting. She even rushes home from work each day in order to capture the light just in time before the sun sets!
I absolutely adore her latest series of watercolour illustrations of women in their flower petal dresses. Her paintings blend into fresh petals and the transition is so amazing, I can barely make out where the real flowers start and end! She matches the colours exactly! The idea for this series originated as a birthday gift for her grandma - a bookmark of a woman in a pressed rose petal dress. Aww.. I'd be delighted to receive any of her works as a gift. Each piece is so beautiful, so elegant, so feminine.. I could gush all day, but I don't need to say more. Her work speaks for itself, and I can't wait to see what's in store!
