One of the best things I've learned to do is open my mouth and communicate. I've spent too many years holding it in and hoping that my partner would understand my needs by loving them the way that I wanted to be loved. I found out the hard way that I needed to love them on their level and communicate my desires or needs in the relationship, which included establishing my boundaries. Also, being secure in who I am in and out of the relationship helped me speak to everything I needed from my partner. Learning to communicate my needs has taught me how to be free in the relationship and to leave my expectations of who I think they are at the door. Communication has taught me to accept what is instead of focusing on what was. I swear learning how to communicate has opened up a brand new world for me.
