Striped Kukri Snake
Striped Kukri Snake (Oligodon octolineatus) Seletar Club Road, 9th August 2012
2nd Try Northern Explorer Park Connector Network
The Northern Explorer Park Connector Network (NEPCN for short), compromising of 17 routes covering approximately 25 KM.
More info can be found at National Parks Boards- PCN Website.
Here is a basic map guide courtesy of NPBoards website,
Here is the route I took tracked by my Garmin Edge 305 and loaded to Map My Ride
Pardon the untidiness but With a proper Map it will be much easier to visualize the PCN. As you can see i have numbered the various routes, do bear with me as I explain the NEPCN.
1)Mandai Park Connector Network
My route starts from the Mandai Park Connector Network. It will take you to some beautiful scenery like this The Drying Forest and this The Clouds Up There of Upper Seletar Reservoir.
2) Lower Seletar Reservoir Park
At the end of Mandai PCN before continuing the NEPCN a stop over at Lower Seletar Reservoir Park. This park has a mini water park for the kids and a beautiful nest like structure at the end of the Jetty.
Here are some photos of the place.
The Wooded Path
The Long Walk
The Nest
3)Khatib - Bongsu Park Connector start
Continuing the NEPCN. Khatib - Bongsu PCN will lead to a dead end.
4) Khatib - Bongsu Park Connector End
To continue strictly to the NEPCN have to retract back and continue to Yishun PCN but due to impeding RaiN had to cut across and rejoin the Yishun PCN at the ending portion.
5) Is not a PCN route
6) Rejoin of Yishun PCN & Simpang Kiri PCN
raining at simpang kiri PCN
If it was not raining the Simpang Kiri PCN would lead all the way to Sembawang Park
7) Canberra - Sembawang PCN
8) Canberra PCN
This will bring you to Sembawang PCN. Theres 2 turns at Sembawang PCN and 1 of it is a dead end.
9) End of Sembawang PCN
This is the Dead end of Sembawang PCN it runs along the Sungei Sembawang. Alternatively this is one of the Good Place to start the NEPCN route.
10) Is not a PCN
Due to light down pour and the actual fact that I was running late I had to cut across the NEPCN route. To Stick to the NEPCN I will need to backtrack quite a bit.
11) Admiralty West PCN
This is where I Rejoined the NEPCN
12) Woodlands (Ave 2) PCN
13) Woodlands (SLE) PCN
In case if you ever get lost.
14) Ulu Sembawang PCN
This would lead me directly to where I started, My GPS shows a total of 27.74KM travelled.
Hopefully my third attempt would allow me to check off the Northern Explorer Park Connector Network off the cycling list.
